Instance Matching Bandits

Can we please make it where designs (or anything actually important such as etching boxes) are manually rolled for by the classes that can use them (if weapon or chest that particular class; if leather armor, by leather users, etc.)? Just helped a guildee run BRHM through Instance Matching and a priest from another server that qued in last boss got "my" weapon design. While I understand that most people dont even intend of "stealing" a design, because of this auto roll system, they steal it anyways.

~Also as a side note: Before any of you elitests say "You shouldn't run Instance Matching for designs", I get that. And I don't. I've ran over 100+ BRHM between all of my characters with my guild or through class design res'd LFGs and the ONE time I run through Instance Matching my design drops and a priest from another server that qued in last boss gets "my" design.

It's not "your" design and it wasn't "stolen".
  • Fair enough, however when you are running literally anything else, and gear drops they have it set to where only the classes that can use that gear can roll for it. However if leather gloves drop and you only have heavy armor classes and a healer, they are set to FFA and anyone can roll for them since that class is not there. This was put into play the same time where gear stopped being capable to disassemble into feedstock because people would run gearing dungeons and roll on everything to just disassemble it for feedstock instead of letting the people who needed it get it to progress with their gear. This was obviously put into play for a reason and the fact that this isn't implemented on designs is [filtered].
Like I said, I don't Instance Match for designs, but there should be something implemented so that the class who can actually use the [filtered] thing has first dibs on it.

Actually the priest can use it aswel. If they have an alt, its a perfect way for them to get a design for it. Also they can still craft the item and sell the gloves for profit.

So as already said before its not your design and thats why those are not affected by class loot, simply because anyone can use them whether on the class they queued or on an alt.

^ nobody crafts items to sell for a profit.

They can still use the gold from selling the design. Why punish them for lucking out. I "lost" my ambush archer design last patch, while on my archer, to a floormatting priest in LK. Sure I was a bit tilted, but it's auto roll.

Yet at broker you can see crafted gear tier 12 +15 being sold in every server.

I will quote for you what one of your friends posted in this thread.

I LFG'd a BRHM a while back and some dude got a vex and bedevil design and left immediately afterwards. Nothing's sacred, I'd just run stuff with my friends and guildmates but they all quit the game. Can barely even get an LFG together half the time. :awesome:

In any case, I'm *fairly* sure there's a loot setting you can opt for to make it where you roll on just about every drop. But still, good luck getting people to pass when an expensive design drops -- especially if you didn't even bother to make your needs known at the start of the run. I can see where you're coming from with this, in that it's annoying for someone to join in-progress at the final boss and walk away with like 100k while nobody else gets jack [filtered], but I can't stand people who decide once the design's dropped that they absolutely need it for themselves.

Whole loot system is god awful tbh. Even now, this late into the patch, I only know one guy who actually farmed his design -- and he had to spam timescape nonstop during a double drop event in groups made up entirely of his friends for it to happen in his favor. You're out of luck otherwise, better to just save gold and buy it.

honestly rng bby, im hella sure you'll not give the person the design if it was their classes design.
this was like this for years, everyone works for it and its a great way to put gold to use if you really want it.
Side note when its next patch gear cycle the designs get dropped to like 5g per.

it's been this was since vm1 days, everyone would roll on every design regardless of classes because you could make fat bank. or use it for an alt. i'll never forget being a newbie and seeing an orbicular design drop and the sorc in our party is begging and begging and this priest takes it with a cheeky : ) and leaves instantly. i was just a bystander and it hurt to watch.

so on one hand i feel you, on the other not so much. it's always been this way and prolly won't ever change.

This will never happen unless they make designs bind-on-pickup.

^ This. And by making them like that they would be most likely bound to character so no more trading / selling designs.
Which i personally would find great as then everyone needs to earn their stuff and farm, no just swipe a wallet buy lakan boxes to get mats and then yolo to deathwrack in a matter of seconds.

    1. That only applies to BoP gear. BoE items are still distributed on an FFA basis because they are tradeable. Meaning, they are equally valuable to all members of the party. Designs fall into that category.
    2. Class restricted loot was not introduced with that patch, it had been in the game since forever. Sometimes it was the default option, other times you had to actively change it.
    3. Making designs part of the class restricted loot is a stupid idea. Currently, regardless of how you do your runs, if a design were to drop, everyone has an equal(and thus fair) chance of obtaining it. Getting the design for the "wrong" class means you can sell it to fund the purchase of the "right" design. If your idea were to come into play, people who don't get lucky enough to see the "right" design drop would have no chance of funding the purchase within the design trade as they wouldn't even be allowed to obtain "wrong" designs. Not to mention the potential for choking a market if you play a not-so-popular class.

What about the days when it dropped as a "blue print" style thing and any class could pick up to learn all of their VM designs for that patch? (Think Gen and Starfall...) I think people benefited more from that system than this current one. I've only seen one person with enough luck to get his own weapon design. He got his lance design, decided he liked his brawler better, and literally got the pummelettes design on his first
    TS run. Lucky [filtered]. ^=^

if you want get desing, go to guild, or friends , make static brhm x 4 ultra fast and see if you have luck with that, simple maths

    desing droop = rgn, Traps from IM = + rng x 2 = roll in desing = + rng x 3

now with friends( and change roll robin in party for auto roll to rool manualy )

Desing droop = rng, roll in desing = +rng x 2 ........ less rng huhuehuehuehuehu
