Any update on the feedstock issues?

We have the double VG rewards, and we had the BG jackpot (which is gone now.), but we still have received no word on a permanent solution to the feedstock issue.

I've heard the reasoning on why dismantling was nerfed, and I don't think most of us agree with it.

The enchanting system already makes the game bleed players, as it is. Every day the feedstock supply continues to be so low, we will continue to bleed more and more players who came back because of the new patch.

It's taking people 3-4k feedstocks just to get one item to +12! That's just not obtainable for new players in any reasonable amount of time.

We need dismantling back!

  • I don't see dismantling being out of the game from here on out. It's just completely nonsensical. There needs to be a current fix to the feedstock problem. How this 'patch' slipped through the cracks is beyond me.

During the double drop event this weekend I went on multiple DFNM runs. So much gear and most of it is going to waste completely because a large number of people already have their slaughter gear at +12 but they could really use the feedstock for other characters or just to infuse back into the community to lower prices.

The reason why we're not allowed to dismantle any longer is complete rubbish too. Getting gear was not difficult. The difficult part was the rng component and y'all (BHS) went and made that a lot harder. Beyond ridiculous.
  • And these feedstock events are nice (Thanks, EME!) & all but they don't fix the issue long term. There needs to be a sustainable fix. The system in place worked and did so for years. I still do not comprehend the change. Does anyone at BHS actually play the game? I really wonder...

Yeah, I'm glad they are taking short term measures. But the feedstock supply, even with these measures, is significantly less than it was!

Well, demand is extremely-significantly higher than it was as well, due both to the confluence of gears on the same tier and large influx of new/returning players after the patch. To a certain degree, the bubble isn't unusual, the question is how far to go to help it burst more quickly, and whether whatever remains will be balanced once that happens.

There's definitely more demand than pre-patch, no doubt.

But the feedstock supply is definitely much worse, even with all the temporary measures in place.

And why are the daily rewards not tier 9 anymore?
  • The core of the issue is that the amount of feedstock earned per hours logged (at endgame obviously) is at a great mismatch vs. pre-patch. I and probably many others don't want to buy feedstock at these outrageous prices so we grind away in-game. The problem is that it takes an outrageous amount of time with the current system to get a sizeable amount together to do any type of enchanting.
  • The VGs no longer reward mid tier spellbind (that is T9 right now, last patch was T8) and dungeons no longer drop T9/T8 MES (I haven't done KD but everything else and I haven't seen any of this). This alone makes gearing cost way more gold than last patch because you need to buy MES/BES and Spellbinds yourself, which as everyone knows, is incredible expensive, just to try and reroll one line in non-VM gear cost around 7k, per try, doesn't sound much until you have to reroll 10 times just to get the line you need and realize that you just spend 70k+ gold just in that, adding the amount of feed to +12 and its current price and so far each of my SL pieces have costed me an average of 160k. This is 3~ times the amount of gold DN costed me last patch. Completely ridiculous.

As a side note: I also have the feeling that SL gear has lower success chance than DN last patch, and even SF. I got full SF on 3 characters before patch and it took me around 3.5k Feed to +12 the whole set on each one, and around 10 BES per piece to MW. So far all the 3 SL weapons I've got took an average of 30 BES to MW and 2k+ feed to +12. Cool.

The only problem that I have seen with feedstock is not being able to dismantle it. En Masse has been very open eared to this, our daily reward calendar has been nothing but feedstock, every single vanguard offers a good amount of feedstock as well. Arx Umbra mobs will even give you a good amount of T8 for 50 mobs, and you can do that 7 times. Everyone is going for T9, but it only takes 2 T8 to get to a T9. And since you cant dismantle, this encourages people who dont need the dropped gear, to not roll for it.

The one small contributing factor that I have to admit I failed to grasp at first with this whole change is the impact of having T8 and T9 gear on the IoD merchants to be used for gear-based enchanting. For example, for a new player who just gets their T8 gear, the thing they should be aiming for is to collect as much class-matching T8 gear as possible (through tokens or drops) to use as fodder. The T8 gear is particularly inexpensive on the IoD merchant. So part of the reason you get less feedstock is because they expect you to use gear enchanting as well, and I don't think anyone is used to that yet.

Obviously that isn't the whole problem or solution, but it's one of the changes influencing things this patch, and I don't think people have quite adjusted to it yet.

The problem is T9, and T10 (if people actually had the recipes, which is another problem.).

The new system, though it has some minor benefits, did not ease the difficulty of gearing, but instead, massively increased it.

And the difficulty of enchanting is probably the largest complaint of most people in this game.

They're supposed to be improving the game with each patch, not making it worse. I'm sure we've already lost many players because of the feedstock supply this patch.

The problem that keeps people away from gear to gear enchanting is that the current player base is used to the on-fail chance adjustment that the alk+feedstock method gives. It's just a small number and if the tales told around are to be taken as common occurrence, that number doesn't really do much for enchant success in practice. People still face failing a lot of enchants as it is. But the number itself is powerful on the minds of people. Some may think that just not having it, even if it's a measily 1%, would mean instant failure and not worth the try.

Now, at least in my experience, gear to gear enchanting works nicely on low T8 levels, like +1, +2 and +4. So for those who would want to save some feed, they have the option to use gear to gear enchant in those low levels, then use their feedstock on those harder to reach numbers. The big problem is, that this works all nicely on T8, but not so well on t9 and up because for Slaughter, only one dungeon drops it at the moment, and it drops only two pieces which players have to roll and compete for, plus gear to gear enchant is much more strict than the old pre f2p gear enchanting ways. Star Fall and Imperator are even worse. Doubt anyone would want to create such gear just to use as fodder.
