This is a huge oversight imo.
Hmmm, maybe that's why the game balance and economy (classes balances, rewards, drop tables, shop contents, etc etc) is usually like [filtered] every patch and EmE then takes months correcting their mistakes and adding stuff players have asked for months.
Who gives a [filtered] if the player doesn't want to share the knowledge in the forum!?! This isn't a damn guide ffs. You need top players in the Council, players that play the game extensively and know what we need and what we don't.
Sure, add some random noobs who have no clue about end game (like a RP guy, a guy for events, fan art and all that useless crap) but make sure to also add people who actually know about the end game and its needs. If the person spends or not a lot of time in the forum and/or shares knowledge, is unimportant to me.
I want people there who know what the end game players need and pass that information quickly to EmE. That's the entire point of this, right? To cut some slack from the moderators who get paid money each month to read stuff?
I think you're making some mistakes by generalizing the council's task. What I mean is PC should ONLY be discussing changes regarding the current in-game situation (as in the 1st paragraph of the expectation part)) and not be hosting event or providing help with fan art or role playing or highlighting guides or helping this and that blah blah blah (from the 2nd paragraph). The main point of having a PC is to take care of Tera's ingame issues, not to tend for player's mental health since it doesn't matter how many events you host, as long as those issue remain there will always be more complain.
You don't need nice and passionate ppl who would nominate or get nominated, you need specialists that should be hand-picked, and since many Tera specialists are hated (because they got huge advantage over average players from their knowledge), it's better for the forum health that you don't give them special privilege (not like they would ever use it anyway, but hater's gonna hate).
If you need help with hosting event or taking care of community fan art, make it a different position.
I'm not sure what you think you are proving. I said "they are basically trial moderators and mailroom boys". You said "you are wrong" and then provided a bunch of quotes that explain how the Player Council will be moderating the forums and sorting the mail. Or are you confused on the difference between "provide vital feedback" and "organise feedback from other players"?
I think KTera has demonstrated a pretty effective solution for this. Players are given far more strongbox keys than they are in NA. You can get 5 or 6 keys daily by doing a single quick quest. With lots of keys out there, EME can now introduce a "balancing" of items through strongbox key events. Afterall, you can get anything from a strongbox. All that needs to be done is to change the jackpots of the strongboxes to the item in need. Etchings are expensive? Have strongboxes drop titan's embers/eases, white dendrites, etc. Feedstock too high? Feedstock jackpot. Alkahest is expensive? Alkahest jackpot. Spellbind? SES? Even rootstock foods, and other things we don't normally see from strongboxes can be put in.
So, this strongbox key isn't the only solution, of course. But it's a way for EME to quickly respond to what the players want.
Yes,
Yes, I am the one that's very very confused ¬.¬

The only thing I'm worried about is knowledgeable players who can give constructive ideas being ignored because of low forum use. Obviously it's important for someone to be able to share information, but there are tons of places to do it. Then again, it could also encourage people with valuable information to use the forums more often, so I think it's gonna be interesting to see who does what when the council is picked.
Really hoping to see some 2012 players represent. : D
It might end up being just a bunch of forum users get picked because they use it often and can clean it up. I don't think there's even any 2012 players on the forum besides me and possibly counterpoint, but i have no clue when he started to i'm just assuming.
Though regardless of that, hopefully they'll pick people who actually want to help and will try to improve things rather than picking people who do nothing except clean the forum.
Oh please, there're quite a few (myself including) and from FGT1 or 2 times - so significantly predating 2012. Not that it matters much,
The whole idea is a pandora box. Whether it will turn into fanboi forum police or a method to lobby one's own ideas. While I often mention EvE as example for good ideas, here it's a prime example of why it's really, really bad idea (it's called CSM there). Exceptions apply, but those are pretty rare ones.
What exactly is this supposed to achieve is beyond me as well. It basically creates another wall between players and the game.
There are a lot of 2012 players still around. My brother, our friends, and even myself visit the forums from time to time to chat and give opinions. Naturally I'm not saying people from 2012 would be the best candidates for sure. I just think it'd be a good idea to have new and old players is all.
I think they've already made it clear Player Council will do more than just clean the forums. I'm not even sure 'clean' is the word I'd use. Even then, a chance to give clear feedback and more communication with EME is always a good idea. We'll see in about a week.
Tbh, i'm much more interested to see if this'll be another wall between players and EME, a disaster of nuclear proportions, or an actual good thing that helps all the sides.
Should probably wait and see, then criticize it along the way, rather than thinking it's going to go all wrong before it starts.

How so? We can't just hand out Player Council memberships to top players because they're good at TERA. They have to actually want to be here and help.
