if you play tera then it isn't dead lol. but seriously, according to the rumor mill, tera has been dead for a few years now. its amazing how a dead game for the past few years now is still going strong. no there aren't as many playing as before, but its still alive.
as far as these so-called dead servers go, I don't mind them cause that means I have the place to myself when no one is around. then again, I play solo, so I don't care lol. play tera, and as long as you are having fun, then its worth it. also before people start jumping in claiming you cant find anyone to run stuff with cause its dead, my answer to that is to find a guild that does run stuff, make friends with the same desires to run the same thing as you and make a guild of your own or make a party with them and meet up at certain times everyday. maybe even put it in you guild description that you are looking for members to run stuff with and that you aren't too picky about gear and experience.
This guy hit the nail on the head. And then when you log in, you're greeted with ping this high and you log out to do something else, since every other online service you use works just fine except tera.
What I've noticed in my time spent in other korean MMOs, is that even after the core player base moves on, the games tend to stick around in zombie form for a long time afterwards. Whether they're supported by their parent company, or supported by whales, is anyone's guess. This happened with maplestory, which lost most of its players a long time ago but continues to survive somehow. It happened with Dragon Nest, a game that had almost no actual people running around but plenty of bots when I quit, yet I can still log in and play it a few years later. It happened with Archeage after most sensible people got fed up with Trion and quit in droves; the game stuck around like a lingering ghost for ages. It happened with Tree of Savior, a game that had a terrible launch and was riddled with so many glitches that even the most hyped players quit eventually. None of these games technically died, you can log in and play any of them, but they all bled players like crazy until they were shells of their former selves ... yet were never shut down. I think the same will happen to tera, if it isn't happening already. It's a really weird thing. I don't know how these games stay in business with hardly anyone playing them. In any case, with that as context, posts like these: actually make a lot more sense. It's not really "amazing" at all; it's typical.
With that in mind, we should redefine our definition of "dead" for this discussion, or maybe ask a different question entirely, like "Is tera's population healthy" or "how is the LFG looking outside of MT?" At the end of the day, I'd always recommend giving this game a shot because when it's NOT laggy and it's NOT running like garbage, the combat is actually enjoyable and the dungeons feel epic in scale with some really cool looking monsters to kill. If you have a friend, play with them; things'll be ten times more fun. Playing with friends can make this game feel alive even if the rest of your server is burning down around you.
edit: Also what MidokuPasta said, about everyone being cheaters if they think the game's in a decline, is the dumbest thing I've read on these forums in a year, and we're pretty far into 2017 so that's saying something.
true, its been dying since foa patch. we get new players but it seems like the same amount are leaving or stopping. something needs to be done or we wont have a 10th anniversary.
But we are not as populated as Alliance days as said above, removing alliance hurt NA so bad, and BHS is not listening to what we have to say.
But if you wanna come back, come back game is not dead at all, guilds and static parties are there and if you are willing to be active they take you.
better give meh mi 10 10th anniversary wings now then
There are guilds though, I'll give you that. Depending on your server, they can even be quite active. Just gotta hope those guilds aren't full of statics as well, or you're screwed. Basically the key is to make your own static by making your own LFGs and befriending the people you run with who don't seem like jerks. You run with the same folks often enough, and boom one day you have a static. Problem there is, tera's hard to keep people interested for long, so eventually integral members of your static (experienced healers, great tanks, dps who you helped gear and just got good, etc) will lose interest and leave.
Anyone that says it is dead and it is dying and says don't come to the game, is an absolute troll and not playing the game and deserve to be banned.
Anyone that plays the game and also care for the game, want more players get in and not send people off.
