  • Why though?
    Do other people not have as much right as you to do what they find fun and/or rewarding in the game?

    I meant the ones who are selling gold for real money. Halrath has to ban them all the time... Sorry if it affected you in a way.

    Just a psychological effect, as they're in absolutely no reason whatsoever contributing to the game. If you wanted to go P2W route there's always selling EMP that both players and En Masse love.

    Someone apparently couldn't grasp what I was saying so let me say it again. I have played countless mmo's. The moment you stop seeing people trying to sell gold is the moment the game is considered dead. If you see spammers in the game it's actually a good sign that the game is still considered popular.

    I do not buy from them because as tempting as it is, I want to never get banned. I am simply saying it's a sign of an active game.
  • Well, if we didn't have goldsellers who'd buy the loot boxes :p"

    3 years ago there were much less spambots than today. by this logic tera was less popular hehehe

    3 years ago it was pretty dead. I've been here since Beta I actually know what I am talking about.

    @MidokuPasta
    So you argue that since gold-sellers are still running rampart, that implies the playerbase is not as bad people like to think, otherwise they wouldn't bother?

    You know, I kinda get it. Not sure I agree with it, but I get it.

    .......I understood what you mean on 1st letters of the post, it's ALWAYS this, this is the same thing every single time a gold scammer/farmer/spammer comes into show, I'm familiar with this argument.
    It's still, pretty psychological as the game did have fewer gold spammers on times when it had more population as well. It may just be a sign that gold farmers are easier to work than they were before, or moderation issues. What Kuboid said is a fact too as I did play since 2014 and recall I barely ever saw gold sellers before Fate of Arum:

    It's no direct relationship to popularity, if you could just literally sell the dust from your vacuum cleaner, no matter how niche it's market was, you would do it for little to no effort. If it's just easy as breathing to get money, why not? When effort starts to be a thing, you'll have to balance effort spent vs earnings. If you just leave a PC on with a bot doing work, it doesn't matter much if you earn a ton or just a little, as long as it pays the electricity it consumes.

    TL;DR: I would attribute the sudden increase in gold farmer bots to ease of farming gold in-game by whatever method they found now.

    Their presence isn't a sign of good news, it just means they are successfully profiting which has nothing to do with the actual success of the game. I've seen them on games previously that had extremely low populations and were about to shut down. Them being on Tera just means there are people buying gold, items earned through fraud and accounts. It's not really even difficult to find out who is either in the case of legitimate transactions; as not all bot spammers are really selling anything, sometimes they are just tricking people to steal their accounts to sell or their information.
