It was reactionary and did abate on most servers as predicted. But not all servers are the same. These are the latest broker prices as of now:
MT: 850 g
FF: 1000 g (700 g in bulk)
AV: 3000 g
TR: 900 g
CH: 1500 g
So for the most part at the moment, the prices on all servers are at or below the standard ratio, except AV. (CH is always a bit more pricey for fashion-related items, so that price doesn't surprise me.)
Edit: Apparently what happened on AV is that someone or "some ones" bought up the entire broker supply and then relisted at 3x-4x the price. lol The price actually had abated after the reactionary spike there just like on all other servers.
This something common to do in broker, I myself have done it several times, ie. with insanity badges when retool jewelley kits came to game, I bought all insanity from 1k to 3k (almost every single one of them) and then put them at 5k gold.
I made a good amount of gold from them at that time.
That person is doing the same but he is taking less risks as there are not many ways aside cash shop to get it.
They were 400 on CH the day the news broke that we wouldn't have them from elite boxes (before that they were like 200), and since then they've done nothing but increase. That's a pretty big jump, and it sucks for people who played the game to have fun with cosmetics since the game doesn't give a whole lot of customization options outside of the abandoned fashion coupon shop.
Not even sure what's being debated in this thread tbh. People initially pointed to the incoming scarcity and said it'd increase prices. Prices quadrupled. It didn't abate at all and it shows no signs of dropping.
But that just shows how ridiculously oversupplied they were before -- way below the standard ratio. If you look at the broker history on each server, you will see that after the change there was a large spike in prices. Since then (except for this recent aberration on AV) it dropped back down to a lower rate. No, of course it won't be as cheap as it was before, but the reason for removing them from the box is that it was way oversupplied. Getting a strongbox key from the elite box is much more "worth it" than an apot dye thanks to trade value alone (particularly if you're strategic in your timing). Keys also are less likely to become oversupplied to cyclical demand around jackpots, so Elite players should always be better off with the key rather than the dye.
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think EME needs to intervene yet to increase supply of apot dyes. Maybe they will at some point.
What would be interesting to know is what is the real issue for them to rise the price that much?
For my own experience with elite boxes the removal of apothecaries from them should not have that much impact, however some people seems to know more than you or me about the inventory on hand of that item.
I think the way of getting apothecaries right now are more than enought, free things are not meant to be in bulks, more like they were mean to be like a teaser so you buy the cash shop product but if you don't want to spend money then you get the free ones each month anyway.
