Tera community in the Reddit discord is WAY too toxic
After close to a year in the Reddit discord of Tera, I came to the conclusion, I can't stand that server any longer. The moderators are super toxic and very argumentative and annoying. Everyday, they argue with someone who has a different opinion other than themselves. When asked a question in the discord, you get a smart remark without any answer, and if you dare oppose one of their member who is part of their groupies... Be ready to get dissected by e-thugs.
I can say all of this because usually I am quiet in the discord server, I don't speak, I just observe. And over the year, I've notice this trend, I come to realize, this discord is WAY too toxic for me, and decided to part ways of toxic players in this community. Everyday, they promote there 3rd party program as heaven sent, and while forcing others to take part in it because if you don't... Well, you are losing out on the benefits and getting out classed by those who use those 3rd party programs. And I find it very intriguing that the person promoting the tool also is making huge revenues $$ from such tools. And he's part of the moderation which you can see where all of this focus is at.
Anyways, this is a rant because after observing that toxic discord for quite some time, I've grown distasteful of such players. They CANNOT accept opposing arguments, if you aren't for 3rd party programs... Well, in their own words, "You're a troll, a loser, a dumb player who doesn't understand." If they're not talking about opposing mindsets, they're clowning EME for "doing such a bad job, I can do better." While scapegoating EME for their own benefits and all the followers are believing such toxic moderators and players. Rule of thumb is, you NEVER believe nor accept arguments if the person who is benefiting from it is making the argument.
Anyone creator of 3rd party programs does not have a say in rather their program is good or not because for obvious bias reason. They literally are making profit off everyone they can convert into believing their own ideology of "fixing ping," through 3rd party programs. Don't buy into it. And if you oppose their opinion, well friend, according to their toxic chat, you're just a troll, and you will get labeled by this mob internet mentality that you're just too stupid.

In my opinion, the people there are not promoting the use of third party programs (besides the gray area ones). They're just making fun of the way EME is handling the problem and saying that people shouldn't really play the game if EME/BHS isn't doing anything about the issue, which they aren't, even if the problem is apparently easy to fix if they bothered to try to contact the devs.
also, a conflict of interest does not prevent someone from making factual statements about a topic.
it's not like they don't accept opposing arguments. they just don't accept poorly made and/or emotional opposing arguments.
You see them arguing with someone who has a different opinion but really what's happening most of the time, they're trying to tell someone who their opinion literally cannot happen, why their opinion is factually wrong, the flaws in their opinion, etc, all of the above. I've been in the server for quiet a while now and know the most active moderators and members quite well at this point and as far as I've observed, taken part in, and been on the receiving end of, the only time you get met with a smart [filtered] remark to your question is when you ask stupid questions.
Promoting 3rd party programs? No one in there promotes 3rd party programs. Okay, well, maybe some people do, but hardly anyone does and when they do, it's few and far between. Actually, thinking about it, the only 3rd party program i have seen promoted there is the one that has been proven to actually resuce ping, to make the game more stable and playable for those who are unfortunate enough to play outside of the US, on WiFi, or with general [filtered] internet. In regards to "forcing" others to use 3rd party or their in the "lame kids club".. the audacity of you, really. No body is forced into anything they don't want to or care to do in that discord; at all. May I ask why you think people are being "forced" to use 3rd party programs and if they refuse, facing being exiled from the "cool kids clubs"? I think this is a bit of a ridiculous conclusion, personally.
There is heavy talk and discussion of 3rd party programs, EME's recent actions and reactions, etc.. but there is no, loosely, promoting not forcing of anyone to use 3rd party programs, ESPECIALLY the malicious ones.
Rather than saying EME is their scapegoat, I think it would be more appropriate to say that they are discussing how bad of a job EME is doing because ofbthe lack of care, thought, and execution that's put into their recent actions against 3rd party programs and their creators. All I gotta say is: Reverse engineering has worked wonders for the world before, no reason it can't work now.
As this topic was brought to the discord, one ofbthe moderators who I am strongly suspect is onenwho you say cannot handle opposing opinions nor arguments commented "I mean it's their freedom to think". The moderation team believes im freedom of speech and expression and therefore allows many different types of people to talk, argue, oppose, and stay there despite their argument or opinion, or just who they are in general. im really tired so I'm going back to sleep

I am a TERA player since open beta on April 19, 2012. They have not tried even once to sell me any 3rd party program, and I do not feel pressured by anyone there to get one because I am not using any. They discuss them, sure. But discussing does not mean that it is being sold to me. And we also had a thread in this forum discussing 3rd party programs a long time ago.
Also, tried to search for your "You're a troll, a loser, a dumb player who doesn't understand" line. Couldn't find it. So calling BS on that.
In honesty, I don't know, most of the "3rd party" solutions that might be used by most of the people out there should be free. If it is paid, they don't force you to buy their program. Heck I don't think I have seen them actively promote said software (maybe a slip of a tongue once in a while, but never on the intention of you buying their stuff, since customers who would want them would have gotten them even without them saying it.
I have been proven wrong in their discussions before. But I believe and I can conclude from facts that I can see for myself that there is at least some truth to their arguments (otherwise they wouldn't be telling you why you are wrong). And even if you think they are just being cocky sometimes, it doesn't mean that ranting about the very server(s) that EME strictly doesn't want to talk about will do anything lol.
Oh and "smart remarks" are always given to people who obviously didn't do their homework beforehand, but even then it is not uncommon for people to give actual answers afterward. So I don't know where you got the "people get trolled by asking questions" idea.

But the "most active" users in that discord is toxic, this is known. Trying to back up that disgusting discord doesn't do you any favors.
Hah. You can already tell where this is going. You're part of that "groupie" and "active and well known" makes you a susceptible bias towards the discord favor. If you try to assume that the discord isn't even toxic, you're joking yourself. I can literally print half of the screen since last year til now of all the toxicity that goes on in that discord from moderators to "active" users. And to say they don't promote 3rd party programs while HAVING AN ACTUAL CHANNEL dedicated TO 3rd PARTY PROGRAMS, you're literally kidding yourself.
Wrong. Being there a year, I think I can see who has the better argument. Regardless of the "better argument" they're just toxic, especially the moderators in that server. I can name 3/4 of them and screen shot their toxicity if you want proof? But that won't do, because obviously by your tone, I can tell you're part of the "active members" trying to defend your beloved toxic community to bash others and call it, "a friendly community." Stop joking.
This actually sums up their attitude on that server and those who tries to defend that toxicity. it boggles me how someone can try to defend disgusting behavior and then call it, "justice."
The argument I'm making is from statistics. When doing a survey or a research, the researcher has to account for bias information. When discussing 3rd party programs, those who take part in the tool does not have a say in the matter. For obvious bias reasons, especially if it pays them every year. According to one of the toxic moderator while laughing, "I'm almost at triple digit in money from selling scripts. - Bernkestal" Yet, this person tries to defend his script by saying how legit it is. You don't listen to any information posted by this person because his motive isn't for the good of the community, it's for filling his pockets.
