I wonder if this nerf is going to be addressed or not in the past in a few hours...

I'd like to see it fixed... or I will take a long break from tanking as lancer

It's nerf for some dungeon like DF.

If party member doesn't distract the sorc boss, then for lancer, it's going to be hell.
If party member doesn't help and kill adds during 2nd boss in DFNM, it's another hell time for lancer.
For lancer, DFHM is easier than DFNM instant matching. 4~6 adds in DFNM hurts more than the boss.

I agree most people dont understand most skills cannot be blocked. Try and let a warrior get next to you and combative strike or rising fury you. Try and block brawlers haymaker or their op spins. Tera is to laggy of a game to rely on block, you cannot just say manage resolve better its nearly impossible. If u think tera has some god based optimized system where eveything can be blocked ur kidding... find a buddy put ur shield up an test it urself.... pls fix this crap eme talk to blue hole. If u can let a brawler have infinite block, crazy mobility, high crit rate based moves, unblockable moves, and the ability to block and stagger at the same time, give us our old resolve back
  • Can only backstep once = no complaints
Can backstep twice and gets invincibility on wallop = complaints
    ???

Am I missing something? You're just trading off the cooldown time for RE usage. Means you can do more iframes in less time. You can use shout to regen and second wind has a glyph. I know, I know, those skills are not that great to combat this. But is the new backstep really that much worse...?

To be honest, yes, I die a ridiculous amount more now. If I back step twice I cannot block at all until I regenerate enough resolve, challenging shout doesn't give much resolve back, second chance works fine but its on about a minute cool down which leaves you screwed for 60 seconds if for some reason you are low on resolve. The quickest way to restore resolve is by actually attacking with skills. There a lot of attacks where blocking does nothing, there are also several bosses that leave AOE pools under you so you need to move. Bosses like the crab in the new dungeon where I can block but still get D.O.Ted to death and take a ton of damage right through the block. Back step is is needed a lot, and the cost is just way too much. They tried to fix what wasn't broken, and now my lancer feels extremely useless and squishy, considering every dungeon I'm in when I inevitably die they don't bother to res me and proceed to take the boss down significantly faster with out me. This content appears to be designed more for ninjas and gives a big middle finger to lancers. I'm in +9 slaughter gear and I feel very squishy. Blocking is often useless and I can't dodge when I need to because I have to attack and take damage so I can block or dodge. I'm basically face tanking hopign the healer can keep me afloat long enough so i can move.

    1. shout- still get damages. And, it doesn't pull enough RE.
    2. why lancer can't have iframe as like brawler? when Tera first came out, most of boss attack was blockable.

That's what the KTera devs thought too when they randomly nerfed backstep.....

Shout to regen doesn't work that well when you're pvping because it leaves you vulnerable to your enemy for the cast time especially in small scale where every single skill you use matters. Second wind has such a long [filtered] cooldown that it's not really all that reliable.

And yes, I'd much rather have the old backstep back. The reason there's complaints is because you backstep once and there goes half your resolve bar, block 1 more whipsaw and gg you're just a sitting duck. Gotta play to know what it feels like honestly.

And you find it weird, you're squishy.

First of all, DN is tankier than Slaughter +12. Ur sitting in +9. U shouldve stayed in DN +12 until you got +12 slaughter. Now ur just [filtered].

Believe me, i noticed. RNGesus is not being kind either.

To be fair the old backstep still used 200 RE iirc.
  • It's funny before the patch I was a Lancer and I complained about a lot of things, Lancers terrible crit, low damage and high skill requirement for such little reward, basically a high skill floor support class.

I'd get [filtered] talked for most of it, but later on I'd see people saying the same things I said.

Like after I complained about Lancers low damage/wallop crits, I got [filtered] talked by top lancer on my server and then later saw him posting about how bad lancers damage and wallops crit was.

And before patch I told everyone that Lancers would be getting nerfed and they all insisted to me that this was a buff, I had planned to change classes, but this nerf especially cemented that. It's good to see months later people are finally agreeing with me on this to.

Yes. Before, with 1 Backstep with 5 second CD, you would just time it correctly and come out with it with more resolve by the time Backstep came off CD.

Now, if you're that good that you still only need to Backstep once every 5 seconds (in PvE, I seem to be able to manage this), then I have to make up at least 700RE before I was before I started. In PvE, this is alright, because you can do this. In PvP, if you can make up 700RE in 5 seconds, then please show me how.

I knew this was a nerf as soon as I saw it coming.

The thing is, it's wrong to call this a "nerf". It is, by all intents and purpose, a buff. Giving lancer the means to Backstep close to three times consecutively is great... for PvE. Which is exactly what it was intended for. Resolve is a huge non-issue in PvE but having consecutive iframes on lancer is. But this was just far too much for PvP and it's obvious they didn't even come close to considering how this might affect PvP players. Regenerating the same amount of RE lost is virtually impossible unless your opponent is just standing there to take a beating. The resolve regeneration buffs should've came ages ago and given to warrior as well. Making their only iframe in PvP cost 700 RE was excessive beyond belief. Honeslty all they needed to do was make it so that Backstep consumes this RE only if it's used twice consecutively. Give it a buff like reapers or ninjas that activate on the first iframe and make it consume the resolve on the second if used during the duration of the buff (in the same way that it puts ninja/reaper iframe on cd if used during the buff). But leave the cooldown. It would solve all our problems.

Honestly my first time I ever felt a bit of pain with the backstep issue was this part when tanking the lancer and the girl. For some reason when I'm tanking, no one keeps the girl far away. Surprisingly I did well in hard mode but the management of resolve is very much dependent on how well I manage myself and it can be difficult at times.

I tend to agree a bit here. Well I dont pvp much so it's not a huge concern for me; for pve it's not really a big game changer but it has somewhat made me more aware of managing resolve. If people are relying on backstep too much, then they're doing something wrong.

It completely gimps lancer playstyle in PvP, which is a concern for a lot of other lancers who don't just do PvE. "Relying on backstep too much" isn't a valid argument when it comes to PvP because backstep has been a key part of lancer's kit since the beginning of time, you can also say it might be similar to saying "relying on shield barrage too much" because it makes almost about as much sense (very little sense). It's a positioning skill, their only iframe, etc. They don't have any real mobility skills apart from dash and (now nerfed) backstep.

Still not sure why they chose to mess with lancer's kit and leave brawlers alone. Not like lancers were majorly broken in PvP...

Yeah I recently tried dueling and can feel the difference now. Yeah certainly a big changer in pvp, especially trying to manage both blocking/iframing. The only other mobility I can think of is when castin stun + onslaught to move fast. And yeah Lancers were not as broken before.

They probably thought adding this change would be a nice buff but instead turned into a nerf as what most people call it right now. I'm thinking they primarily did this mostly for pvp reasons. In pve, I think I'm doing really well but I may have trouble at some bosses like when tanking the lancer in dfhm and like no one in the team keeps the big girl far enough. Managing resolve like that from not getting sleep and endurance debuff is tricky while keeping aggro and doing dmg at same time lol.
