  • It's their choice to use savvis as their sole carrier. Savvis is not my ISP, as you'd have to be braindead to actually choose centurylink as an isp when you have other options.

I know precisely what the problem is and the solution is for enmasse to load balance with multiple carriers again, as they were doing for a brief span earlier in this year. The issue is that savvis has seriously lackluster peering with many isps, so during peak hours they fall flat on their face and cannot deliver a stable connection. Here's a bit of a demonstration of the problem I have every single night when savvis hits peak hours: https://i.imgur.com/dysOJh2.png If you can't tell what's happening from that screenshot, basically as soon as it leaves my isp's network and peers with savvis, i have 10-12% packet loss.. which means 10-12% of the time, i can't use skills or react to boss attacks on tera.. because savvis is the only option and savvis is too cheap to upgrade their hardware. Unfortunately, the problem goes both directions - people whose isp's are carried on savvis/centurylink will lag due again to their poor peering if savvis/centurylink is NOT an option, so the solution is load balancing.. as I said, a solution which was already in place and removed without notice for unknown reasons.
Edit: This isn't even mentioning the fact that my ping permanently TRIPLED when they turned off load balancing back in june(?)

With Savvis I don't lag at the usual times (9-10pm est), but with Zayo it's just bad times all the time. Literally no matter which routing service they choose, they upset like half their player base lol
  • Yeah, precisely what I'm saying. When they were using load balancing, it picked the ideal route for your connection.. So neither of us would lag. Forcing everyone through one carrier is just a bad way to run an MMO but maybe tera doesn't have the money these days.

I actually really liked the load balance trial they did earlier this year as well. Yes, my ping did go up slightly, but I got a much better connection in terms of stability.

For me really doesn't matter. Lags anyway just in different time, amount and ways.

yeah, for couple of weeks I am lagging time to time :(

Possibly because I'm in Brazil so it's garbo anyway whatever route it takes, but I don't have any special lag moments outside super peak hours on the specific events that are under peak, so sounds more like my ping lag related issues are their server sided.
Kumas Royale for one is ALWAYS hot steaming garbage, with desyncs every moment cause why not and such. Specially last week's event thingy when Kumas popped even for Lv 65, it was complete trash.

So maybe it routes through somewhere else to go to south america? Dunno, too lazy to check (hint- no I don't know how to check AND too lazy to search how)
