Besides, don't forget people can use keyboard and mouse with the PS4.
I personally own a 4 core hyperthreaded cpu. I'm not removing HT for tera since the game works fine (for me) as it is. Though I do know from seeing cpu usage stats that tera isn't using all my cores nor threads. Maybe what I and other see is something else, but it's pretty much what those who check what the game does on their PCs, resource-wise, agree on. That Tera doesn't use more than two cores. of course, I doubt there's any really competent dual core CPU out there, since the companies seem to reserve the hardcore stuff for 4+ cores nowadays. leaving dual cores to more mundane tasks and for lower end PCs. So that's why I believe current dual cores shouldn't be running Tera, even if the game does not use more than that... unless there's a really strong modern dual core made for gaming that I don't know about.
That's the point. Tera isn't optimized as much as other games. FF14 comes from an old company that knows how to make games to fit in limited power consoles, and still make them look great. If BHS learns how to do these optimizations, then tera would surely run fine, as visual-wise, it doesn't have more candy than your average console game.
The same way others did with FF14 and ESO. With lots of mode shift shenanigans and clunky shortcuts. I personally play Tera and pretty much all my PC games(even GW2) with a Steam Controller and while I can't say I have THE precision of a mouse, it's much better than what I could do with an X Box controller. I do have a warrior and a sorc and play them using this same pad and those skills I can't easily access, I add them to a chain. So I'm sure that if BHS is really considering Tera, as it is, for consoles, they are already thinking about a solution for controllers.
ESO only has 4 skills.
TERA requires manual aiming and have more skills than I have ping while in asia. Still skeptical af.
We also want the talents they have on KTera, but we're not getting those.
What the community asks and what we get are 2 very different things in this game.
I cannot agree with you more, @Juude .
end
what i'm hoping with a few other people is optimization finally happens. though there's tricks they can use unfortunately that would probably let tera run in it's current state at full rez on consoles. the architecture of both the PS4 and xbox one doesn't have quite the cpu bottleneck nor all the extraneous junk that runs on all PC's.
Please let me port my PC Character over to my PS4 or login into my PC character from my PS4 and I'm golden with this.
I already have founders/collectors edition I'm not about to go through that purchase train again for PS4.
It still hasn't prevented the community from asking it. Maybe we just need to ask with our wallets. But THAT's the part I often don't see happening.
EDIT: Re-read the article, since I have read it long ago. Still, it says they created a job listing. Still it does not mean they can achieve a full game. Perhaps they will play with the idea and see where it goes. But as I agree with other psters here, they should give much consideration to this PC port, which is the one giving them money currently to post that very job listing.
Exactly, this is looking like stage where they are making (remaking actually) something which is making profit. Optimization in BHS opinion is something that they don't need, cause we can still play and buy elite status or new elin panties.
If they will port this game to PS4/X1 then they have to face their worst enemy - optimization. PS4/X1 got underclocked AMD CPU (on which tera is just slideshow), and slow HDD (while im seeing floating shapes even on SSD) - this not going to work without optimization. They have rewrite it to working on more than 2 cores, and port it to 64bits, cause current gen consoles can't handle that piece of garbage.
Just hope that they will make a lot of changes to the current engine, and changes will come to desktop too.
