When are we getting korea's optimized files and memory leak fixes?
I'm getting tired of doing a single dungeon run and losing 70% of my FPS.
It's abhorrent

Not sure the issues of the OP but as I have issues with memory leaks and random disc usage of 100% making my game freezes often, I fixed somewhat the disc usage 100% usage and rarely that happens again but memory leaks happen sometimes in "new" dungeons so if you don't have a good pc (not talking a pc gamer) then you will get annoyed because of that.
yer I don't think Lesbians asking if there is such a problem but more asking is there such a fix ready to implement by BHS
The thing is people with the same PC rigs in korea compared to NA will get triple digit FPS. And that FPS doesn't go down in dungeons or towns. The only place the fps drops is at rally bams, but that's because there's over 500 people at those. You're bound to get lag then lol.
With the way they're managing builds now, I don't think it's likely that they're "holding out" on some optimizations that K-TERA has. Rather it seems like there's something about the localized build that adds to the problem, and the way they handle the localization strings seems like one likely culprit. Other local-market integrations with unique backend systems could be another likely culprit. But I do think it's something EME should try to investigate with BHS.
Is there a video of this? Also all MMOs base off ue3 generally have bad optimization since the engine wasn't designed to run MMOs. Blade and Soul and bless have crappy frames too at times
Yeah, BHS fixing actual problems for NA is not going to happen most likely lol
AFAIK all regions use Scaleform GFx*, the UI engine that UE3 comes with. A big part of the problem comes from the timing of BHS developing Tera in the first place.. the version of it that UE3 shipped back then lacked any form of hardware acceleration. It wasn't until years later that Scaleform got hardware acceleration, but by that point BHS had made enough alterations to UE3 that it made updating to a newer engine build practically impossible without rewriting large chunks of the client. And if what counterpoint has said about it not being an issue in KTera is true... well, BHS has a long track record of not caring about the issues of other regions much, so they have even less incentive to do anything about it.
(*): You're right in that Scaleform uses Flash, but that's not inherently a bad thing if done correctly. Crysis, Civ 4, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Medal of Honor, Skyrim, CS:GO.. these all use Scaleform for their UI. Source
One thing I've suspected (but don't know) is that it could possibly have something to do with the hook to fetch translations (if Korean is the hardcoded default) but who knows. It may also have to do with anti-aliasing on the font, which as you say runs in CPU in the old Scaleform version. I do think that K-TERA does still use the same Scaleform we have, but must be something different about it.
In any case, for this issue, I'm holding out a bit of hope that maybe, some day, the new Console UI will be ported back to PC, as they won't be using the old Scaleform anymore for that.
(And yeah, you're right that Scaleform itself, and its use of Flash, isn't inherently bad. It's just an issue with the implementation in this game.)
