Of the new dungeons which are safe to que for?

Hi,

I'm pretty new to playing 65. I hit 65 prior to the patch but didn't do much dungeoning. I have been in enough dungeons as soon as getting the right ilvl (pre and post patch) where people weren't really contributing (myself included). On the other hand, once getting to full twist shard and starting to enchant it, the lower level dungeons seem pretty easy.

I'm now at ilvl 432 and all the 431's are open but are they all worth queing for? Is there a general consensus for what dungeons are ok/good to pug? Or are all of them ok as long as I have the ilvl and have watched the videos to get some semblance of mechanics?

I hope this made sense,
Thanks!

  • As long as you have the ilvl and know the mechanics (as well as you can without ever experiencing them yourself), then you should be fine. After that, it's up to how well you know (and play) your class.

What matters is not just you, but also whoever else pugs and ends up in your party. You can be geared/prepared to the teeth but if your teammates are trash, the dungeon won't go any better. The hp of all the bosses of ilvl 431 dungeons are rather insane, and even if 1 person doesn't pull their own weight, the dungeon will feel like a chore to complete. That I can assure you.
In the end, whether the dungeons are “good” to pug depends on what you're expecting from pugging. For me, I wouldn't pug and risk getting stuck in a 1 hour dungeon run, or risk being unable to clear it due to horrendous teammates.
  • If you IM with 2-3 other friends/guildmates, it won't be so risky. If you go by yourself, gotta prepare for the worst.

Don't be put off if your first experience of a dg is horrible. I find all three three star dg are safe to pug if you know the mech. LK is probably the worst bc your experience will DIRECTLY relate to the experience of your tank.
  • Thank you for the replies,

It seems I should give the 3 stars a go, they're doable. But, if I find I want to go further its going to be time to invest in a guild.

From 3 stars I'd do KD but keep in mind it hits harder than KC. LK for me seems more easy because has no one shot mechanics themselves. TR,,,I think no. Not for new player.
If we are from one server we could have few runs together) I'm from CH.

ilevel is only there to balance out que so you dont end up with some one who has lets say a level 40 weapon on them as lvl 65. if you want you can get a couple of friends and do RK-9 by enterning from the portal, even with gear way below the ilvl needed, thats just up to your group.
  • The only painful one is Thaumetal Refinery. I've yet to see that one where each person didn't die at least once to the lasers, though fortunately I've yet to see one where everyone died at the same time (always just raised and continued). I've had quite a few where I thought I might even make it without a death myself and then "BAM" wrong laser literally spawns right on me or I'm anim-locked and have to watch it mow me down after it pops up near me or (whatever ; ;).

The other mid-levels are more reliably death-free. IMHO, LK is the easiest, fastest, and least prone to mistakes.
