"Breaking the spirit of the game" <~~ Really? Ive got a screenshots from before todays maint with tardos spamming global with what should be best left to pm's, if at all. Am i gonna report them? nah not worth it, tardos gonna be tardos. make fun of them in other places sure.
As for "exploiting" an aggro bug, what the hell!? this is a feature built into the game. Imagine that a tank can generate more aggro than a healer and a dps, huge stretch there, now imagine the boss follows the person with the most aggro... radical..
If they were worried about breaking the spirit of the game how about certain guilds forming alliances and farming events like oh say CU? Nah nobody cares. Seems like its a ban them to make a player crying to a GM happy. Lets hope that this is a one off thing.
there is plenty of wbs everyday. 20+ at least, u will always see a wb if u spend enough time in it, dont be a dickhead, cuz if u find a wb after long time searching, and when u make it 10%, 2 guys come and aggro shout it trying to reset the wb and steal ur loot, im sure u wont be happy at all, even if they have idoneal gear they can still aggro shout the boss cuz its designed like that. they will get the aggro for some seconds and they will run away to reset the boss, and the boss will go behind him untill he touches him, no matter how many dmg u did before, a single aggro shout takes all the aggro. even if u're a tank, when 2 guys rotate the aggro shout they can still reset ur wb, even if u're stormcry +9 and they're idoneal only. and they can keep reseting for hours until they get it, and not letting u kill the wb, cuz u wont be able to kill it within the aggro shout cd.
and u say that action dont deserve a 3days ban? pls, then u deserve a perm ban instead.
i think eme did good with this ban thing, and more, they should increase the penaltie if the banned guys keep doing it after the 3days ban, a 7 days ban for a 2nd time and a 30days ban for the 3rd time sounds fair for me, and a perm ban after it, lol, if a guy cant stop stealing wb even after the 3/7/30 days ban, then he just deserve the perm ban, cuz he's a complete [filtered] and a fully dickhead, and we dont need players like that in this
game.
and its not hard to find a wb in 2 hours, and its not bad, since the loot is a lot better than dungeon drops, and in 2 hours u may find more than 1 wb most the time. if not in 2 hours then search 4 hours. lol. for some reason they're called worldbosses. if u're so lazy and wants to kill wb then just go kill kazan.
what a normal player should do when he sees a wb getting killed by other ppl, he could go search other wbs cuz there will have high chances of another wb somewhere, u could go kill that wb while that guy is busy killing his wb. and if u dont steal his wb im sure he wont steal ur wb neither, unless he's one of those who deserves a ban, then u can take the appropiate actions.
but the most common action i think is to ask party, im sure if the guy cant kill it alone or needs help he'll invite u for sure, and there wont be any problem, LOL. u guys can even cooperate in wbs and be more efficient, that's how it should works. and not stealing other's wb like a mthfker.
and im surprised that u're complaining it on forum for such malicious behaviour u did. u DESERVED it.
for some reason there is something called law and logic. if a blackman go into ur house and shot u with a gun, im sure u wont just accept it and let it go, lol, im sure that u'll call the police to catch the blackman and give him the punishment he deserves. that's how it works, and not liberate the blackman just bc he said he was testing the pistol's quality. which is something like ur case.
PS: the blackman is just an example.
There are people on it. [filtered] it, you were late, move along and carry on.
Go level another class and just farm ghillie over and over again if you can't have common sense.
Don't you fond it annoying when you farm on IoD and as you run, someone just decide to pick the BAM you were obviously running after. Sure, some people don't necessarily see someone else there at the same time but it's still frustrating.
You just curse that person and leave but nope, some people just think that [filtered] it, I'M MISS OR MISTER VIP.
Are you that kind of person that would steal candies from a child lel. I'm joking. It's just frustrating that so many play to ruin people's fun.
I remember struggling to kill a BAM. I was on a low geared alt and this person literally pulled 10 BAMs and literally killed me. I tried to find them off but couldn't. I was pissed. I should of reported him but didn't. I regret not doing to.
I approve of the decision.
If you wanna act like and a-hole, well there you go. Get punished.
My only thought to this is that on a pvp server, you can contest those who would take the bam by pvping them. On a pve server, how would that be contested without "breaking spirit of the game"?
Selfish? Could just party up and share the loot but nope some types of selfish are ok while others are not, GM's y'all need to step back out of this and let people play the game. I cant play the game how i believe it should be played because im worried about a temp ban from cryhards..
Simple salt
Temporarily banning people for kill-stealing is not absurd given the underlying principle. Just because they may claim they didn't know in advance doesn't make it absurd or vague. As I said from the get-go, kill-stealing has been against MMO etiquette forever, and when people are deliberately screwing over the party who got there first out of loot, it's a malicious act where GM enforcement is warranted. This enforcement should be applied to everyone doing the same thing until the behavior stops. That's one of the many reasons why you have GMs: to enforce principles of fair play.
What's absurd is that, rather than focus on this actual issue (which you might well disagree with me on), you turned it into a slippery slope argument. In your words, "anything you do can get you banned because there is this vague rule a GM can freely interpret and you can never know if something is OK to do or not." You then proceeded throw out examples of other things people may do where this principle could theoretically be applied against people. But what is behind this principle? Are you being a [filtered]? Are you are deliberating hurting the enjoyment of others in the game? These are, again, exactly the sorts of reasons why GMs exist in MMOs: to make case-by-case judgement calls on situations that arise as people play the game. That means they have to adjudicate things that aren't codified in strict rules. Given that MMOs and their mechanics are constantly evolving, it's not practical to codify every single potential infraction in a rule book. But, by this thread and the action taken, they are establishing precedence that kill-stealing on PvE servers is deemed to be against the rules. Now the word will spread and people will know: it becomes "common law."
The fact is that, legally speaking, you can actually be banned for any reason (or no reason) with no recourse; it says so right in the Terms of Service. But just because that's technically the case, and just because they govern using principles subject to interpretation, doesn't mean everyone is constantly living in fear of getting banned by the whim of some off-kilter despot. That's just not a logical extension of the decision to forbid kill-stealing on PvE servers.
Except that's not what you originally claimed. Your original statement was that resetting BAMs was abusing a game mechanic to do something that wasn't intended to be done. Unless you are about to argue that the devs made those items non-tradeable because they intended for them to be traded/sold, you got no leg to stand on.
Also, there is no such thing as being able to just claim mobs for yourself on PvE servers. At least there wasn't one until now. Just thinking about the amount of times I could've been banned for infringing on someone's personal grind spot and stealing their mobs... I'm so very grateful this wasn't a thing when I was levelling alts.... On the other hand, this can become so fun if people find out they can get others banned for KS. Fun to watch that is, not play around.
