Having a hard time coping with the Elin.

Hello My name is [Unimportant] and I love playing video games of ALL kinds. I recently discovered TERA. And thought it would be an interesting game. However I am somewhat disturbed by the playable race "Elin". It's not the idea of a cutesy childlike race that I find disturbing but instead the fact that their armour is incredibly skimpy. I mean it would be considered skimpy on an adult looking creature. Which I wouldn't mind in that case. But mixing cutesy childlike race and hyper oversexualized females is making me incredibly uncomfortable.

Any advice with how I can cope with this race, or should I just not attempt to play TERA?

Elins are immortal spirits made by the goddess Elinu. So take it up with her.

You either join them or ignore them.

Lore wise it can be interpreted that they're the oldest race in terms of longevity, but yeah, they're still in the avatar of little girls (And no one really cares about tera lore anymore anyways). And the race locked classes to Elin at the moment aren't really that strong anymore, so it's not like you have to play as one.
  • You have to ignore them if you want to play Tera, because Elin is the most played race.

I find them cute and most players don't dress them in skimpy outfit anyway.

You got me thinking now. If I was an immortal nature spirit locked in the form of what appears to be a young girl to other races, I am pretty sure I'd sexualize myself just to make other people uncomfortable. LOL.

To me there is a difference between "cute" and sexual. The teddy bear race (can't recall their name) are cute. The Elin are sexual. Again, I normally don't have an issue with the sexualization. It's just harder for me to accept when the race is child-like. Put an anthro skimpy lizard in front of me and I'm cool with it. Put a creature that looks like a young human girl wearing a skimpy outfit, I'm taken aback somewhat.

This is neither. I'm generally asking. I'm sure this is posted often for trolling purposes. But my inquiry is sincere. I'm allowed to be uncomfortable with this and ask for advice on recourse.

I'd cover myself in blood and talk creepy murdery stuff constantly. Because ya. But that's me.

Asking for recourse is asinine. Not only is EME unable to do anything about it, it is one of the least consequential things about the game. If you are being serious then you have issues. You don't have to play an elin. If you choose to, you don't have to wear the same costumes that other people do. Asking how you can "cope" with a video game? Maybe see a therapist.

    This is 100% trolling.

Your opinion of me is noted. But as you have no empirical evidence you are dismissed.

  • How do you cope with things that you disagree with or don't like in everyday life? For example, I dislike broccoli. When I have a plate of food I like and there's broccoli on it, I'll eat everything else and ignore the broccoli.

However, there are those people who will toss away everything because there may have been a chance that the broccoli touched it.

You can take the advice of others in this thread and just ignore the broccoli.

Or. You can throw everything away because there's broccoli on it.
  • Here comes CassandraTR again, being condescending with his usual bull.[filtered] : "it's not a problem for me, so you're not allowed to have such problems".

This is a waste of forum thread. The bait was taken apparently. To answer your question, I think you should just not play for multiple reasons. If you get bothered that easily by a race like that may I also suggest you not play Blade and Soul, Revelation Online, Black Desert Online, etc. as this is not an uncommon character model.
