Race changing

Hey Im just curious. I know it states "Use to change a character’s race. Also allows gender and appearance change. *Any race-specific items bound to your character will no longer function after changing race."

Does this mean for example... if you put on a dye able rogues garb onto your Elin and race changed to a high elf. Can you new high elf wear it. Because it wasn't originally a race bound costume item. I dont think it should still be locked to the Elin. I can understand, for example, the Arins maid dress not working on the high elf, because it is specifically a elin costume. Anyone can help me with this?

usually you have to write a ticket to get change for your costumes. you won't be able to use them after race change.
  • What im asking is about is specifically costumes that were NOT race specific before putting them on.
  • Because ive heard that they do transfer over to the new race, because those costumes wernt specific to race initially.
  • Using your example, you won't automatically be able to to equip the Rogue's Garb on the High Elf. You need to write a support ticket, like Ves1978 stated, and the Customer Support will change your costume to the correct race. There is a support category specifically for this.

i think what people are stating to you is yes it was an all classes outfit as the box will supply what you need once opened , but once it was bound to your say elin it became an elin costume so you need it unbound to the race you were to use n the race you become , it also wont become an outfit useable for a male with out GM help if this is what you go to

From what I understood, what you did (and combined with what you intend to do) was/is in this sequence:

Elin character -> Got outfit that is available for any race -> USED it on your Elin -> want to race change to Elf, which supports the same costume (IF unbound/Elf version).

If this is the exact sequence, then you already soulbound your costume to an Elin, and hence you will need to contact support as shown to get the costume changed over to your Elf. What they will do, is only change the soulbound costume from Elin to Elf, and still keep soulbound yo your character, that will now be race changed.

Since this costume works on both races in question, no issues, just need to wait for support to do it. IF the costume in question was a race exclusive, say, you had a Kitty Cat costume on your Elin, you would be left with no equivalent to swap over, so nothing could have been done. The costume would be left intact, in case you wanted to revert back to Elin, you would be able to re-use it.

Another note: keep in mind, when you read the soulbound name, for example "Soulbound to Takeda.Healer", and you change names, the soulbind name will also change, cause it's not actually bound to that name, but to the character in this server.
This also means, that if you put your soulbound stuff in inventory, delete the character, and create another new one with same name (even same race and class), they would not work on this new one even if all matched. It's still not the same character. - test required, if anyone bothers doing this. Might do it on some leveling character just with bound gear to try out when I'm in the mood, but the theory is there, based on how it works for anything else.

You are correct, by the way. It's not bound to the name of the character, it's bound to the internal ID of the character.

Thanks for clearing up. Wise idea, otherwise it would be a pretty easy way to defeat the necessity of appearance changers in case one doesn't care about achievements, titles or skilled rankings.
  • Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. Makes sense. I figured it worked in that sequence and that its not something you can do back and forth. that would be annoying,
