it was harder to have money 3 years ago for a new players, we didnt have kyra and mongos
Thing is Kyras is an event, and it isnt at all like it used to be... so that is not a long term lucrative way for the average player to continuously obtain a steady stream of gold. The other guy is 100% right. all you have is ur 16 Vangaurds and selling the two types of mats that are sell able at the cost that you wont be able to do any gear progression if you do sell them because you do need them for yourself. That being said , because they are the only real items you can sell that are farm able, everyone does it, causing the items value to diminish on the broker.
I know that bhs/eme has to make money some how to keep the f2p game going, and removing ways to make crazy amounts of gold in game is beneficial to them so that they can make money from emp to keep the game going. but so far this patch doesn't seem too newbie or casual friendly as far as making the gold to enchant. just my opinion.
yes there may be loads of ways to make gold this patch ...but its super secret like it always have been, but playing the trade broker starting with nothing, or grinding with alts 10-16 hours a day isn't for everyone.
well kyra gave us expansive costumes and so many stuff to enchant and if i remember the third kyra alone made you millionaire
Now it only really gives costumes, but they have been so under cut as well... ppl are desperate to make gold.... other than that this Kyra is a flop...
And for me, this make no sense.
What's the point to hoard like 80M on vitual uselees gold and not play the game?
Why not use this time to do kinda the same thing IRL and idk, just play stock market or resell stuff? At least he get real money...
Unless he's rmting in some way all this gold lol.
Tbh, ppl should just play the game to have fun.
But whatever float his boat, maybe he think that hoarding virtual gold is fun and the true end game of Tera...
if you have to put 6-12 hours a day into a game just to earn gold so that you can then enjoy the game, how many hours of enjoyment does that leave you? I quit trying to chase the gear progression over a year now, and I actually get to enjoy it.
it is why we call it mmorpg or hack and slash single player game
I do think at least part of (not all of) the problem is because of how significant the change is compared to the old way, and the fact that the "optimization secrets" for the new system aren't widely known yet. This has happened other times in TERA's history, and it does tend to resolve itself over time. I also think the community hasn't yet adjusted to the new expectation of just how far you need to go in the gearing process to be acceptable, or how long this gear cycle is even going to be... so there are still a lot of things working themselves out. At the same time, I don't think the perception some have of it can be entirely ignored either.
Playing this patch made me realize something... I think people forget how hard it was in the old system to enchant gear as a new player. The amount of gold you got. while more than this patch, was absolutely worthless when you had to buy semi's + MW scrolls + MWA + Identification scrolls (yes they add up for new players especially) + Feedstock (since the amount that dropped was pitiful.) Leveling a new character and enchanting the gear without help from a guild or other sources of alkahest and feedstock took Months (kinda like it is now.) I've done it multiple times, and would know. I can honestly say that as a player with very little gold on my characters, gearing this patch takes less time than it did to grind the money to buy materials for the last enchanting process.
Now this comes with a huge caveat: it's only less time consuming to get up to Frostmetal. Getting Stormcry is a whoooole different ball game and a far away goal to a player without previous funds. Which was kinda the point. The economy was so ruined that they needed a way to drain the amount of gold in the game, and force people to play instead of swipe. So if you are a player with limited funds going into this patch, getting Stormcry is something you'll be looking at grinding for months for. I argue that this gearing system is a good thing. People need reasons to keep playing the for 6 months at a time. StormCry should be something a brand spanking new player gets about 2-3 months into their play session. That's how a good gearing system works. We are just so used to Tera's [filtered]-backwards gearing system of everyone having max gear in 1-2 weeks.
So instead of complaining that you can't get enough gold, complain that there isn't enough content to keep you occupied for the 2-3 months of playing it takes to get StormCry. That's what Tera really needs. Gold amounts don't matter, how fast you get gear shouldn't matter. What should matter is that there is enough diverse content to keep you playing as you work towards the end goal. HORIZONTAL content expansions, not vertical. Heck, I would be happier if StormCry was the top gear for a year, and they just released more dungeons that gave the same materials as we do now (as long as they DIDN'T remove the old ones...worst things BHS does)
Anyways, that was a much longer post than I thought I was going to type out. On topic, I'm totally for merging all of the servers into just a single PvE, PvP, and RP, but not for any of the economy reasons, mainly just to have a more active playerbase.
Incidentally, this is kind of sort of what they suggested -- that they would keep releasing more dungeons, but not release new gear. They've also suggested that they're going to remove dungeons less often. Nobody's exactly sure yet exactly what they mean by all that, but it might be along those lines. It's at least consistent with what they appear to have said. If people knew already that this was going to be the case, I think it would help change the perception a little bit. Time will tell.
Comparing K Tera to Na.... smh. not even the same economies. I suggest making a toon on NA, specifically FF (since this is the server that im discussing , yet ppl forgot that.. a dead server with limited PvE end game content players) and start fresh and tell me when you get to stormcry :^)
