Item Experience and Success Rate

Can someone shed light into how item experience affects success rate? On my screenshot below, my Frostmetal weapon has 5120/1588 XP. As I understand it, I should have 100% Success Chance when enchanting since my XP is over the amount of 1588. Yet, the success rate is only at 61%.

I'm guessing that for Frostmetal gear the XP to Success Chance ratio changes but how are we supposed to figure out how much XP gets us to 100%?

"how much XP gets us to 100%?"

For frostmetal and above, this doesn't happen. If you have item XP over the denominator there you're getting the maximum XP success rate bonus. Base success % is low to begin with so you don't reach 100%.
  • Yes, just hover your mouse over that small question mark beside the 61% success chance and it will tell you how much chance you are getting from base (probably 30%), item XP (probably 30%) and Tera rewards bonus (probably 1%).

For Frostmetal, the maximum success chance from item XP is 30%. For Stormcry, it is 15%.
  • Gotcha. So as enchants fail though, the success rate increases correct?

    Yes....a flat 3% per failure
  • 3%?!? This is gonna take a while >:(

    Thank you guys.

This is the grind that replaced VM. You get introduced to the idea with Frost, become intimate with it for upgrading, and then settle into a long relationship with it for Stormcry.

Something that makes this OK to me is there is a cap on the RNG. Sooner or later, even the person with the worst luck will succeed.
  • Wow that sucks..
I mean it should be possible to farm item experience and get it to 100%...

Getting more than max XP doesn't do anything, otherwise it would not have the upper limit there. It wouldn't really make sense to have more than 100% of the bonus from XP.

But to answer the question, max XP only gives +30% chance to succeed on Guardian to Frostmetal, and +15% chance on Stormcry. The chance/XP graph is linear, I believe, so every point of XP gives the same amount. It would be the % of your XP bar multiplied by .30 or .15, depending on the piece. So if you had 50% XP, you would have base + (15% or 7.5%) + 3% per fail.
  • Basically on high tier and up you need to fail to gain your success rate % when you're on the limit with XP. Its great if you're forever unlucky and you would eventually reach 100% :joy:

Guardian Gear doesn't need XP at all for any of its levels, and Twistshard full XP bar will give extra 50% success chance, totaling 100% for every Twistshard enchant attempt at full XP.
  • the only reason why you need enchant frosmetal is cuz you want upgrade to storm cry, the atack modificador between frosmetal +0 and +9 is negible, small, little, tiny, negible small little tinyable

    wait..what? I know a dysfunctional relationship when I see it =/.
I'm breaking up with my Frostmetal!
  • in frostmetal full exp success starts at 61% and gradually goes down with every next enchantment, i think to +9/convert to stormcry is about 30% at max exp.
  • It’s so difficult for BHS to remove RNG completely. Somehow, this makes sense to them and they think players like it? Like why can’t we just farm more exp or even pay triple or quadruple gold and mats for 100% chance..
