When are you going to fix this?

Any GM can answer why there's nicknames taken by lvl 1 for MONTHS and gm's still didnt say anything? or is still legal the name ''maket''?

They banned the practice on forums, but apparently not in game. I'm trying to find a thread about this very thing posted around the time when these new forums opened, I think.

I don't think it was ever "illegal" seeing as how names are a first come first serve, there was a purge where people that hadn't logged a char for... (a month? or was it like two?) some time lost that name and it was up for claim, which is why there was a whole new batch of people claiming names to sell them later. What would you like them to do? delete those chars? they'd be being far too intrusive and the community would flame them non-stop for it; another purge? stuff like that HAS to be made public, so again, you'd have yet another whole batch of people claiming names for themselves to sell later... there's no "fixing" human greed.
  • There's never been anything specifically against the rules about this, even though a lot of people have mixed feelings about it.

There have been a few alternative possibilities brought up, like making it so that when you delete a character it isn't released into the general name pool for a random amount of time to prevent name-selling... but that would also mean you can't willingly give a name to a friend either.

Some people have also proposed another name purge, as happened last year, or a process of regular/automatic name purging. But if they're there because people intend to sell them, I'm sure the sellers could jump through whatever the hoops are.

Could be nice if they implemented a system like Champions Online, where your user name is tied to your character name, and as such, you can use whatever name you want. Other users can see either your user name or your character name. ... but that would surely require a lot of coding and recoding.

Be more original, never have issues getting names you want, and your problem is solved.

They didn't 'ban the practise' they just consolidated all the name selling threads into one post per server which more or less was their green light to name hoarding.
