    > Brawler-They are coming out with male human-BE HAPPY! Would look strange for elf or castanic, could work for Aman. Baraka are a peaceful and noble race and their left arm seems to be longer than the right, so it doesn't work for punching the ground for example. LOL!-A popori brawler or elin brawler (just thinking in the female perspective by elin also); it would look weird.

Thank you for your input and the futile aatempt to force your opinion on everyone else. Although well written and formatted your post lacks a point.

There is no real explanation for not having a male ninja or a baraka brawler. ("Peaceful" yet bash your face with that tornado).
Either way, the obvious reason for having a VERY one-sided gender lock is to:

--- Increase sales through micro-transactions by appealing to a specific demographic ---

This is in no way bashing - The current Korean culture revolves planty with physical appearence. This game was developed and is runned by a Korean company.
This tactic does not suit the entire westeen community.

Dont think they would care to change it though. BHS and EME never actually improved, they just cracking their heads thinking ways to milk cash from players through female class and new classes.

There's no improvement in terms of story, gameplays... just lots of repetitive dungeons and grindings.

Gender-locking, from their perspective, is a way to earn money. This game aint about gameplaying experience, its about cash milking!
from what ive been seeing by the way of their actions, I have to agree. also gender locking a class saves so much time and money on their end. they only have to animate for 1 or 2 races tops. and don't forget that you have to buy mounts and all the pretty outfits for your new class. I feel like bhs gave up on tera for a couple of years now.
  • I'm surprised that they didn't go with either a BnS race/class demographic, or Black Desert where female/class combination is counterparted by a similar male/class combination. Just then have to spread out the races between each class, which would then be the "same" since it'd be a female or male movement frame for each class.

Though, as a female player who has a husband who plays. Playing a female Elin Ninja with his female Elin Ninja is very disturbing. Would have prefered humans, elves, or castanics with both genders as other choices. Though, the Popori would have been interesting as ninjas as well, and hubby would have played them even to have a male Ninja over the female he was forced to play. He'll be happy if there actually is a male Brawler in the works.

except I find both of those games even more limiting in terms of being able to play the class and race that I want than tera is. At least it's only a few classes in Tera. Also, let's not pretend that BDO does that with all of their classes, it's only a couple of them that have male and female counterparts, a lot of them are exclusively one or the other.

I'll agree on some level with what your saying. BDO has some gender locked classes. it would be cool to play as a male dark knight or a sorcerer (agile version of a wizard) and to be honest i'm waiting for it to come out on xbox one (and this will probably get locked now for advertising or some other vague reason.)
but if you compare the gender lock in BDO to Tera, Tera is far behind in what seems fair to many players. not to say that the only thing that comes close to a "loli" in BDO is the tamer (thank god) unlike the perv-fest that is the elin race in tera. I dont see any other race with that amount of RACE-LOCKED-CLASSES. i'm forced to get the lore behind reapers, stupid as it may be but ninjas? really? that's probably the most bad [filtered] thing you can role play in a fantasy game. besides, i honestly would have loved to play a male human brawler but who wants to be male when can play a new class and cos-dress it to be a slutty character (ty korea).

Also, BDO gender locking could be described as fair.
you got the equivalent version in both male and female, like:
    (Male) - (Female)
    Warrior - Valkyrie
    Wizard - Witch
    Musa - Maehwa
    Ninja - Kunoichi

In summery, i would play Tera on xbox when it comes out. will NOT be spending money on micro-transactions because reasons and when BDO come out later i would definitely get it even its pay-to-play.

but like I said, that's not all the classes. Plus, that game has its own limitations in terms of customization as well. I would even go so far as to say it uses a form of race locking as well.

i'm going off of what I experienced when I played around in its character creator during my free trial however many months ago, but from what I recall, the customization is only deceptively extensive. Like, if I wanted to make a young male wizard, it would end up looking something similar to either a kpop idol or what a high elf male looks like in Tera no matter how large or bulky I tried to make it. Or if I wanted to make a ninja, it was 100% going to look like an asian guy no matter which features I picked, and the warriors did have more versatility than the others, but mostly had a wide array of european-like features.

so although the game doesn't technically have races, it's almost as though everything is race locked regardless. I don't know if this all has changed since way back when I tried the game, but all I'm saying is that I think that character customization in that game gets way more praise than it deserves for how restrictive it actually is.

That for some reason does not pose a problem in my perspective.
Actually, i got to play yesterday in a private server and i managed to create a character (warrior) that looks exactly like the anime character "Guts" from "Berserk". WHICH IS AWESOME!
i've seen many other videos of character creation in BDO on youtube and all i had to say was "wow". cant say the same about tera.

    .

Yeah, but Elin Brawler though :^)
  • Here is the thing, it's NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!

So let me get this straight in people's skulls here! IT WILL LOOK RIDICULOUS, AS YOU CAN SEE!

As if elin and popori heavy classes don't? As if Baraka leather classes don't? If they really wanted to make new classes more thematic to their race, they should have given brawler to all tall/large race's males (Baraka, Amani, Human, Elf, Castanic maybe), Valkyrie to the corresponding female, gunner should never have been made Elin and should have launched with aman and baraka as well, and at least popori should also get ninja and reaper.

They did what they did because they know their weeaboo neckbeard audience too freaking well. If BHS knew wth they were doing they would give their other region publishers some more freedom to develop content best fitting their audiences, but basically every asian MMO of the past ever has only pioneered loli, demi, and jiggle physics and nothing else.
  • BUMP because [filtered] elin lock.
