They're your memories...they're doing the typical "You too weak n00b, we died cause of you lul git gud scrub" [filtered] from Anime to allow you to go Super Saiyen 2 God mode jesus sooner/easier
Yes. As I pointed out: "Typical shounen manga".
it's not only restricted in manga/anime, but many times the whole schematics of "awakening some sort of power" has to do with fighting with emotion, past, trauma, or even yourself. During that part of awakening quest, it's all 4.
You're fighting that dragon that will kill goddess Velik if you don't stop him, but you were defeated by a single attack. You think it's the end until you hear Mystel's calling and your consciousness drifts away toward it to go through these trials within your mind.
TERA is full of stories that have no hopes and dreams. There's even a side quest about a guy who had erectile dysfunction or something and he felt bad for his girlfriend because of his condition. So he hear that Unicorn horns are great Viagra or something, so to please her *coughcough* he goes out to search for it. Later you arrive to town and his girlfriend asks you to find him-- only to find his lifeless body laying on the ground near unicorns. It's pretty sad really. There's even Fraya and Kaidun love story which is a spoiler for main quest, and the most famous one is Zolyn and Paesyn.
When you talk to Zolyn and Paesyn's floating bodies, they say something about how you saw people die right in front of you, and you could not do anything about it-- or didnt do anything about it. It questions about your "capability" of truly being a hero because you really did not save people; you sacrificed them like meat shield to get to the position you are in now. It tests your emotion, bringing out the feeling of regrets, remorse, and anger. Your character went through several traumatic events, witnessing countless of deaths in various forms.
I made joke about how your character is "carefree" with their "idle pose as if nothing is happening" not just because I'm criticizing BHS's laziness in making such cinematics that could be polished much further with better transitions and character acting, but it's more of because how it breaks the entire mood of story telling due to it-- really, Elin just does that one of their idle animation where they they do that little bouncy dance while looking around while Mystel is literally suffering as she holds up the barrier for you. Imagine a popo doing their little bouncy turn-around dance or baraka zoning out to point at invisible glyphs in mid air.
then again, i already forgot the actual texts from those. I'll have to do the entire quest again and actually write or take screenshots of all of them to properly analyze.
The awakening quest isn't directly related to main story btw; i's more like a side story for filler to have some excuse to why you get awakening. I personally feel the story telling in it is actually well made for side story though.
Poor Mystel
(Please don't take this serious, lol)
marda and zozo
will be funny with ninja, brawler and mystel
how many are dead anyway xD
zenobia is alive to and seleron and i think there is some that we have no info on
Manahan The very first god who set foot on Arborea from Arun and Shara's dreams. He is currently exiled in Akaia, which is a rift he created during his attempt to break open the world wall so that he can travel beyond, as he craved for learning new stuff.
Ishara During the second Raganarok, she was still in the gods realm when Lok used his last remaining power to seal it. No one can go in or out of it unless the seal can be broken or something. She's technically alive if she was unharmed.
Saleron, sounds like he's suffering from schizophrenia or something, but that's because he's been sealed in Doomcrypt and haven't had activity in a while. It's similar to how you actually do feel weaker if you don't see the sun for a while.
Seren, currently concealed herself in Lake of tears, watching over Elins, Poporis, and High Elves. She chickened out when other gods were being killed left and right during second ragnarok. Since Elinu and she were BFFs, she decided to watch over Elins, poporis, High Elves and the nature in Elinu's place.
Karas, he disappeared after going mad due to loss of his waifu Elinu and snapped when he heard that Balder and Lok went missing after Thulsa's raid where Isren was murdered. He cursed Arborea in darkness when he left No one knows where he is, but he's Manahan The very first god to set a foot on Arborea out of Arun and Shara's dreams. He's currently exiled in Akaia-- a rift which he had created on World wall at his attempt to break it to travel beyond it.
alive.
Sikander His flesh is soul-less, but that doesn't mean he's completely dead. We don't know where Sikander's Flame went, which is his soul.
Velik Currently watching over Velika. She's apparently quite powerful but she refuses to use her powers after the ending the Civil Unrest herself by shedding blood of many people. She prefers peace after this event which apparently caused trauma.
Kaia Currently watching over Kaiator. She's very weak now, only with enough power to keep herself alive.
Zenobia Currently residing in Westonia... not really much is known about her.
Mystel Guardian of World wall after Balder's death. Now world wall is called Mystel's Path and her role has very heavy theme of destiny and trials.
nop it just blows up the town
