    I'm not really sure they do, because then they'd have a different version of the game, and a lot of problems start from that.

    The fact that they gave everyone the option to turn it off if they don't like it is already a much larger concession than they've had in the past. With that, there's really no reason to turn away this opportunity to make money from those who want to buy it.

    Of course it is, it's the year of the lootbox, the concept of paying money for an item and using said item is outdated. Companies can no longer afford to develop content, and then sell that content for a reasonable price with the expectation that the content is good enough that people will pay for it.

    Can I turn off or unequip my own footsteps or switch between them? Not every costume fits the pink fluffy foostep stuff!

    Yeah, it's a costume item, and has its own slot in the Costuming tab. You can equip/unequip it whenever you want.
