Why so many complaints?`

  • The thing that many people get frustrated over, which gradually grows to annoyance and then simply anger is from how consistent EME is with failing to deliver on many points. A lot of the time it can be small things but when it happens so frequently a lot of players don't have enough tolerance to simply sit around saying "I'm sure they tried, they'll get it next time." every time something goes wrong.

Most patches, events or updates result in normally a very short, seemingly unreasonable ETA that is almost never met, like the elin gunner patch which was pushed back a week, then had maint delayed twice. The patches or events never go live without some things being missing or broken.

Then there's often very little or a complete lack of information or communication about the matter, which I'm sure Spacecats has been trying to work on. However given how little information we tend to get over problems and issues as well as any information as to how or when it will be fixed often leads to general rage within the community.

I mean let's take a look at a recent example, the extra life rewards weekend.

Prior to the event the only information we received on the homepage was a really non-descript message that mostly focused on the BG rewards, and only barely mention the xp, drop and turbo-time events, with no mention of what turbo time even is or the other events.

Leading up to the event we were told that triple drops would work differently to previous events. Rather than dropping several times more items, the chances of an item dropping would be increased and no higher than 100%, so items with a 100% chance would be unaffected.
Instead what we got was typical triple drops like every previous event. Which is also still broken, triple drops means 5X the normal amount. Because 1x3=5, something that's been the case for many years and never addressed causing huge inflation every event.

Topping that off, we weren't given any information as to what dungeons would be affected by the event. In the end because of the way the events worked GG, Pit of Petrax and Ace Dungeons were the only content really worth running over the weekend, leaving regular dungeons more dead than usual.

Outside of the drops event, the events all started at different times. Some of the events started earlier than the designated time while some started late. Additionally some of them ended early and some ended late, resulting in some of the events being extended suddenly while the rest stopped. The worst case being the additional loot in dungeons which was late by 24 hours and needed to be manually enabled.

Of course there was the mess of the fact that the BAM spawn event was entirely scripted, however there wasn't any schedule or notices for when BAM's would spawn or any information at all about it. In fact the only EME employee that was even available during the first 24 hours stated "It's all scripted, I have no idea how any of this works." during the event.

Which also leads us to the problem that the event was scheduled on a weekend wherein most of the EME staff wouldn't even be in the country to attend to any problems that occurred.

In the end we weren't even informed of what the bonus milestones we unlocked were until days after the event ended, at which point we were informed the extra milestones boosted some of the event spawns and such.

Of one could say the extra life weekend was kind of a mess. So taking a look at the previous event, the TRNM spotlight event, which was done on a weekend where nobody had any ability to communicate in chat because of chat servers being taken down. Then the rewards despite being described as though 100% drops, were a chance drop. Out of those chance drops only 2 of the rewards were team-shared, meaning for a weekend long event you only had a small chance to obtain any sort of extra reward.

Not only did the event annoy many players with the lack of rewards and poor timing, but it was stated that the event would be repeated again the following weekend but with more consistent rewarding drops. Yet since then the event hasn't been repeated, and additionally none of the topics posted questioning if/when the event will be repeated have had any responses from any EME staff.

Lastly, as if to prove my point, the last patch of the month, the elin gunner patch, was scheduled to come with a federation bill store update that would improve the selection of items in the federation bill shop. Despite the fact that the change was planned for months, and the update was even delayed a week and several hours, the federation bill shop remains the same.

All of this of course mostly tends to come with very little communication, like the elin gunner event currently going on wherein the only way to have any knowledge of what the rewards for levelling an elin gunner to 65 are, is to wait for someone to level an elin gunner to 65 and post the rewards on the forums.

Things like all the above, with the almost scary consistency at which they happen, is the reason why many people simply aren't tolerant enough to put up with EME by giving them a pass on every single mistake they make, even if it may not even be their fault. They constantly make claims, fail to meet up to expectation, and let down a large amount of players.

Just as a point of order...
like the elin gunner patch which was pushed back a week, then had maint delayed twice.
The Elin gunner patch was never pushed back a week. Some people mistakenly confused the information reveal date with the launch date, but the only date they ever announced was 30 November.

    And also...
Leading up to the event we were told that triple drops would work differently to previous events. Rather than dropping several times more items, the chances of an item dropping would be increased and no higher than 100%, so items with a 100% chance would be unaffected.
That was never what they said, but was what people assumed to be the case. I was saying at the time that items at 100% would likely go to 300%. I realize you can say this stems from miscommunication, but sometimes rumors also spread that people believe over what was actually said.

(It did actually work differently that previous events, but it wasn't related to the 100% items.)

but it was stated that the event would be repeated again the following weekend but with more consistent rewarding drops.
Again... that isn't what they said. They said "repeated in the future" not the following weekend. (The following weekend would have been the Extra Life weekend, so it obviously wasn't going to be then.)

I do agree overall that there are communication problems that need to be addressed, but it's made worse by the fact that when things do get said, people often misunderstand or misinterpret it. (But, well, I guess that's what it is to have communication problems... it's both the speaker and the listener.)

These points however also just make more so evident the extreme lack of, and vague communication that we do get from EME when we get it. The fact that the vast majority of any information about any events or patches has to be obtained from the players causes these rumours to become really powerful, and hard to distinguish from any sort of fact. The main reasoning being that these rumours are often true, and they're often the sole way to even get any information about anything going on aside from the very rare actually accurate clarifying statements we get from EME, which tend to often happen AFTER the incident is over.

Despite some of my points being wrong, it still remains that much of the blame lies on EME's part for many poorly planned, poorly executed events and far too often missed timelines, with their unwillingness or inability to communicate about those problems simply exacerbating the situation far more than it needs to be.
Again... that isn't what they said. They said "repeated in the future" not the following weekend.

This I will take note, this was my bad. However stating "repeated in the near future" is one of those statements that's again vague, and something that EME are going to be held accountable for by some players. Equally not helpful is the fact that most of the posts about suggestions to improve it, or questions on how/when the event will be redeployed were seemingly ignored.

Glorious wall of text and legit reasons.

This. All of it. Over and over again.

I'll add my 2c to this by contributing a bit to it as well by saying some of the bigger things we get mad at are less technical problems and more of a..... PICNIC issue.

Most of the things people really get irked about are the poor execution, bad timings, forgetfulness, or just short-sighted thinking put into decisions being made. Most of all, the lack of any real form of consistent communication really tends to get on people's nerves, especially those who are heavily invested financially into this game.

Essentially to a lot of people, Tera is "their game" and is the one game they spend the most, or in some cases, all of their time gaming on - and yet EME's handling of this game feels like it is the game they have left on the back burner that gets nothing more than half-hearted, limp-wristed second thoughts to in comparison to the other games EME handles, like their primary focus is their other titles, and Tera gets whatever spare time they have left at the end of the day.

In simpler terms, Tera is a very vital and cherished part of some of the players' days, and so it as a game and hobby/passtime is extremely important to them. They want the game to do well and to succeed, but then time after time, again and again EME fumbles the ball in their handling of the game and the lack of communication comes off as a, "Well we don't care, we have Kritika, Closers, and A.V.A. to manage instead, and those are FAR more important." slap to the faces of Tera players.

EME comes off as a company that doesn't care for, or treat this game anywhere nearly as seriously as its more dedicated player base, and frankly... that pisses people off. Quite badly. And to see the game handled in such a seemingly feckless way leaves players with a constant bitter taste in their mouths.

This all compounded by BHS's absolutely woeful and utter incompetence and failure as a game developer angers people even more, because all the while making asinine and awful decisions about how to handle the game, they blatantly and outright ignore any non-korean region.

People love this game, and get angry because the Developer and Publisher keep screwing with it in ways that more often than not, don't help make this game live up to its potential.

PS: I do need to point out however, people like @Spacecats and @CobaltDragon do seem to be giving a lot of effort in helping this game out, and that has to be mentioned and commended. This game was in a lot worse state before they came along.

elin gunner boxes give me reason to complaint ;)

While I agree that complaining isn't really useful in this instance, I think the annoyance mostly comes from the fact that eme so consistently misses their targets. If they just said 5 hours and then brought the server up after 3, no complaints.. but saying 3 hours and then delaying an hour, and then delaying another hour.. that causes people to complain. Which really is a small thing to complain about, especially considering it happens with every single update that adds something to the game. People should be used to this by now.

The problem is the no lifers and the most the crybaby millennials (I did say most) that have to have it now and there way. Well this isn't burger king and they don't get it thier way, so suck it up buttercup and go cry in a corner.

Eme is working on it and it will be up soon.

See, my problem is the opposite of the no lifers who can play a lot: I have little play time per day (and I wager I'm not the only one), so when it's reduced even further, of course I'm annoyed. And as @KillerPenguins said, it's compounded by the fact that it happens. Every. Single. Time.
  • What about the mini guns we where supposed to get? Where are they? Are they a level 65 unlock? It is bugging me a lot. I was hoping to get one, I made a Elin Gunner and even used a level 60 scroll I got from the Tera store a while ago. I hope someone can help sort this out.
