I mean they pretty much explained (afaik, this wasn't ever actually stated) that we have plenty of events running right now.

They're not wrong, but breaking tradition is kinda sad.

i think you can forget christmas event forever, i dont see improvment with current enmasse team, so 2018, 2019 and 2020 christmas will suck in our tera :)

That and all the open world hunt events are basically broken now due to certain reasons, so the old tradition was probably going to break anyway.

your explanation in the other post about the same thing pretty much summed it up. if they would have added the fat santa event, people would have exploited it in some way, or people would make posts complaining about the rewards not being good enough, or they gave too much reward. eme could have hosted something without breaking the economy like getting everyone together doing something and maybe passing out little things to people. like I said in the other post, players could have held their own event in the game and invited everyone to it, if nothing else a getting to know you and making friends kind of thing. it didn't hurt me one way or the other if they did or didn't have an event. if I were them, with the state of the game and the players, I would have done something for the players to show appreciation to them, but that's just me.

    @allofspaceandtime

I am pretty sure EME could have done something simple yet good for the players wanting to spend time in the games these days.

I am not sure about all the exploits on the game but if Santas and Bams in OP world was not an option because of that issue then I would have give Elite status for those accounts who logged in on December and would have rotated double drops on dungeons and jack pot on battlegrounds, maybe even making a jack pot for High Tier dungeons and HH so people who like that content don't feel bad about the buff on rewards in other content.

There are small things that being put together in these dates would make it feel some people diferent about what is happening.

Sadly for those expecting something special for these days EME choose to prioritize other things.

If I would have the choice I would really like the idea to see the enemies with santa hats and maybe even costumes. Imagine the 2nd boss of TR as Santa or maybe Kallivan with candies instead of the swords. (BHS should think about this).

I really don't know but I like those kind of things that make you feel in the mod of the current dates we are.

Abandoning open world events because you're scared someone might exploit it... you might as well shut down civil unrest and pve content since people can exploit that too. Heck, shut the whole game down; with the way it's programmed (server basically lets the client play Jedi mind tricks on it if the user knows how) it's all ripe for exploitation. Like, if you just wanted to take holiday time off that's cool, but don't make the proxy boogeymen your scapegoat yet again; you could've just recycled a kyra's shack event with christmas accessories peppered in and people would've been happy AND you wouldn't have had any open world nonsense to deal with. Literally sitting here in my underwear drunk as [filtered] at midnight and just came up with that, not even paid to do it, there you go from me to you fam

Takes way too long to setup and you don't want something you might need to babysit over the holidays (if drop rates are messed up, if there are technical issues, etc.). If it were just to do something, they could turn on some server buffs instead.

(And, FWIW, it's not a "boogeyman" -- there's not even a point of having hunt events anymore. It's too bad.)

They've had all month dude. Christmas is the same date every year, it's not like this time of year snuck up on them. Like, they threw Wintera into the game (which, I hope you like pvp 'cause if you don't you're [filtered] out of luck there) and then just sat back and watched while people asked "christmas events? christmas events?" for a month. I don't even count golden gifts as an event; it's a cash grab, plain and simple. I'm aware they need to basically ask BHS before they even use the restroom but I don't see how it'd be hard -- after five years of managing this game -- to just plan stuff out in advance.

Regarding the proxy boogeymen -- anyone who offers a service online should expect to deal with people like that. Literally every application I run on a daily basis opts to use precautions against 'hackers' instead of just shutting down their services. I'm not discounting the severity of this game's security issues (I wrote about it in the part of my post you didn't quote), but at SOME POINT you have to stop blaming hackers and just nut up and secure your game like every other video game on the market.

Whether you count it or not, it's all implemented by the same one guy now. And even then, it doesn't change that you don't want to run things that have add risk over to your support team over the holidays. But like I said, they could have chosen to do something with less moving parts and less risk, but decided not to for whatever reason. I guess they decided, for better or worse, that Wintera was good enough. Hopefully they'll get the feedback now that people don't think so, but it's too late for this year.

No kidding. It's absolutely ridiculous that they haven't complete eradicated that stuff by now. And yet, here we are. My priorities would be quite different if I had any say. Alas...

Wait hold up, it's literally one dude planning this by himself now? When did this happen?

Halrath moved to be Product Manager for AVA about a month ago, so right now Seandynamite is the only PM on TERA PC. I assume in the new year they'll look for a new Assistant, but in December it was basically just him. The rest of the company was kind of going crazy with Console Technical Test, Closers public beta, plus all of EME's other games adding Golden Gift Boxes (cash grab or not, apparently it works...). So yeah, right now they're shorthanded for sure. That's not trying to provide an excuse at all (because there's always something), but it's part of what's at play, no doubt.

(There's no escaping that TERA PC went from being an only child getting all their parents' attention, to the oldest in an increasingly-large family. I don't think EME is yet quite mature enough to properly balance the pace of growth and change they've undertaken, but that's my opinion. Clearly someone high up thinks this is the way they need to grow.)

Well now it all makes sense, yeah. Didn't know it was just one guy. Sucks for him.
