Is having a DPS meter bannable?

Heya,
i would like too know if having a dps meter is a reason too get banned? i would like too see how well i am doing with the damage output in Dungeons but i have heard
that u can get banned for using a dps meter like Casual meter in the game? is this true? if so will there evergonna be a DPS meter in TERA?
i really would like too see what kind of damage im doing and compare the difference too other players with other gear and/or the same as mine.

EME -theoretically- has no way to know if you're using a DPS meter, the only way a GM can catch you is if another player reports you for it, that's why most players who use them keep the meter output to themselves, specially if they're running a dungeon through IMS or with people they don't entirely know, there's always the risk someone reports you. And yeah, as far as I remember it's banabel offense, but I guess GMs will initially give you a warning before taking a more severe measure.
  • thanks fot the reply, and good too know i will stay away from it then, it is a shame that u cant see your own damage in the game XD, but i understand why they wouldnt want it, too many people are number horny i guess XD

The ToS state that EME may action every 3rd party program.

However, EME also consists of people. As long as you do not pester other players with DPS results and "LOLOLO get gud!", no EME CM/GM is going to ban you. The problem is more of an automated nature; we do know that EME has a way/program to find out if you e.g. modified your game files (Kumasylum, out-of-map incident, >1y ago). Players have been banned and of course they don't come to the forums and proudly talk about their ban.

Well theoretically they do. But practically speaking I don't think they check. It is arbitrary for TERA.exe to check running processes, check your browser history, take screenshots without you knowing, etc. which is pretty standard practice with many other games.

as long as you're not harassing other players with it, prompting a report, or posting your [filtered] in global ur not likely to get caught. but enmass still frowns upon you using it.

As others have said, keep the meter to yourself and don't harass others with what the meter might tell you about them, and you will be fine. Now, if all you need to see is how strong each of your attacks and crits are, you can make a chat tab solely dedicated to damage. It does not replace a dps meter, but is a quick and legit reference to gauge the effectiveness of specific skills. And you don't need an extra program running on your PC for it.

It is bannable to have and use a DPS meter. If you use a DPs meter, rule number 1: You do not talk about DPS meters.

We must refer to it with such expressions as "You-Know-What" and "Thing-That-Must-Not-Be-Named".

Closing this thread and deleting some content. Please re-read the TERA ToS in regards to 3rd party programs (they aren't allowed).
