How is the game's population?

I played since around 2012- and stopped around a few months after the brawler patch, I got really sad with the game seeing as the brawler class was overpowered in both PvP and PvE and how a lot of my friends were leaving the game because of it's state, is it any better now?

In economics, that's the definition of being "better" .....
  • Just going to point something out that some people don't understand, when you start a new character the player doesn't show up on your friend list on their old one.

My sister stopped playing a few months back and she said it was because her friends that she did dungeons with don't play anymore, I had to point out to her that they were still playing but that they had made brawlers..

Anyway, player numbers go up and down as with every game that exists. Given that no new mmorpg titles are coming out anymore and almost none are in production there will be far less massive fluctuations than there used to be, as long as they keep updating the game people will come back. Tera is still one of the best mmorpg titles you can play, especially for free.

I will say that they desperately need to add some variety with their content updates, they have gotten stale lately.

They need to slowly back away from the entire hand holding season and giving out +15's basically for free. I'm not saying to ignore casual players so they're not able to progress, but BHS went overboard with the hand holding. Lvl 1 to 65 should be a time where you learn about your class and learn what to do and what not to do, possible combos, etc. Right now lvl 1 to 65 is a period that you simply ignore and go through it within a week at most and learn next to nothing about your class. Then you end up in lvl 65 dungeons like DFNM and wonder why people are insulting you because you're not doing your job.

Unfortunately BHS seems to like catering to the casual player more than the hardcore ones. Probably because there are more casual players and they might be more likely to swipe. Honestly I think leveling is fine how it is since to really know and understand your class you need most of your skills and glyphs. If anything I guess having 60-65 be a longer stretch could help give players time to learn but there's no challenging or entertaining content with decent incentives for those levels and they removed CS for lowbies.

It's a little better now. There are new dungeons and new gear to farm. PvP is a bit more active now that we have something to spend credits on.

the game probably has one of the most boring lvling ive seen in an mmo already. it needs to be even shorter.

That's called opinion, and I don't agree with it. Leveling wasn't boring for me at all, I did it over 15 times from 1 to level cap (and it used to be a heck of a lot slower back during p2p). The lush enviroments, fun dungeond and amazing combat kept it fresh.

The problem is the lack of variety of things to do once you get to level cap, I do agree for PVP orientated players it can be seen as a lot more boring though. Maybe they need to up the amount of XP PVP players get from BGs.

In my opinion, the game is fine in terms of population. As for level up content, I believe it needs to be both more streamlined and more relevant towards teaching players about how to play the game, so fresh 65's have at least a basic grasp at what their chosen class can do. Back then when Tera was released, dungeons such as BoL, the very first dungeon, were already difficult and taught the value of teamwork and following mechanics. People (probably koreans) raged that leveling was too slow. But instead of shortening the level up progress through streamlining quests while leaving the content relevant and challenging, they decided to keep the game as is and add overpowered weapons to breeze through the content. Lately, they started streamlining the content, finally, but it may be too late already because most people now have the mentality that this game starts at 65. And so you will see newbies STARTING to learn their class at DFNM.
