I've been playing controller for years, and I think I can still priest with the best of them (...maybe). The only major issue is that you really have to pick and choose which abilities go where since you don't have the option of the extended skill bar (well, you do, but it doesn't work the same way on controller), to which you'll have to make use of switching tray setups (I have 2 that I switch between using LB + D-Up; one tray is for "major" skills and the other is for damaging skills). If you never plan on, say, doing a run in Ghilliglade or the sort, then you won't have to worry about having multiple trays and whatnot.

wait hang on, you can trigger yet another skill set on LB + D-Up? how you configure that? Also does it like, toggles another bar that stays on (as in, another skill setup) or is it like the common RB, LB, RB+LB that changes between the 4 sets that use the main bar?

Well that's one very interesting thing, for a 3~4 years controller player to learn new controller tricks!
  • when I played with controller I disabled the joystick detection on client / s1game / config / s1engine.ini and configured my controller with Pinnacle Game Controller so I make my personal control based on how I liked play it in other games and even functions that be used when hold 2 or 3 buttons simultaneously, much better than the BHS give us...
  • LB,RB and LB+RB can all be used as modifiers. 2 stick clicks + 2 triggers + 4 buttons + 4 dpad buttons = 12 buttons x 4 = 48 keybinds. No class needs 48 keybinds.

Turning and movement is much easier with controller and you can "stutter step" with auto attack which force spams it much faster than normal, really great for attack speed glyph proc.

Interface takes LT as Interact (F on keyboard), and D-pad for zoom, inventory and profile/gear too tho, also by standard there's some combination that opens map but I remove it always.
Is it standard in-game configuration that manages to use literally ALL the combinations? I remember some stuff is hard-coded in the game so can't change everything, I'll give it a check tomorrow then to see if I can use some consumables on extended bar.
  • The back button should open controller keybinds. I personally use rb+y for interact and rb+a for jump. All binds can be changed through the controller keybind interface.

The first thing I always do is bind autochain to d pad right, it's useless on x. You can bind it to any combination of buttons though.

Thanks for the heads-up, I knew about the back key opening up the menu (funny enough I have no idea what key does the equivalent on keyboard), I've just never changed stuff other than removing map keybind, jump to A (as I'm used to platformers and love it there), so swap auto-attack to X and just leave chain with jump on A as well, but it really seems interesting to have chain somewhere else if needed to jump without chaining.

D-pad is pretty unused in default mode other than RB+LB tray using it (if I recall... was it that one? Or that moved the camera center around?), so could remove the double camera zoom and leave it only for unpressed, 2 more keys there already.

Wew I'm getting so rusty I don't even remember what key does what... Well blame the tests!

It's the same way you configure anything else, really. The option for "Next" and "Previous" tray is near the bottom; what I did was shuffle a few binds around (RB + D-Pad for consumables (except the nostrum, because the game still chokes to this day when you try to use certain items with Bumper + D-Pad), with LB + D-Left/Right for things mounts and pets) and there it was. Also, I reversed the directions because it was actually easier for me to remember like that.

@ElinLove do you have discord and might be able to help me with some issues to make my UI and controller perfect? I'm really sad and can see you're quite experienced, also using xpadder? I have issues with Interact and the modifiers :(

    thank you!
  • People saying mystic is easier to play than priest, on top of that on controller, what are you smoking?

    thank you!

Got nothing other than the Xbox 360 wireless controller, stock drivers (didn't even update them), and up we go.

I can't exactly use any sort of direct message now since I'm a tad busy with other stuff (uni stuff, namely programming an industrial robot to draw a silly drawing making it the most expensive plotter I've ever seen...)

I can try my best through the forum while I can access it, so maybe people who have the same issues can also benefit.... hopefully

I can try to test some binds logged into the game if you tell which specifics are giving trouble setting them

    Better stuff than yours, obviously.

Mystic gameplay is more easy to get into it, while priest have more buffs they need to keep up, so that needs from you more awareness and be casting skills more often.

There are more advantages from Mystic vs Priest when talking about what class is easier to play but I think is enought to say that a class that needs from you to be less active on battles to give the same or better efficiency than another of the same kind then that makes that class easier to play by a lot.

Mystic is easier on kb+m so i assume it's also easier on a controller because there're less skills to use during the fight and not as many lockons I guess?
