My last chance with this insane lag

Before 1 month (or near that) my normal ping was 100/150 aprox. After some updates (including last maintenance), my ping jump near 800 (not in peak hours). If EME don't fix this issue, I gonna say goodbye to Tera with all my guild (all of us living in south america... 39 players aprox)... this game is unplayable for noone of us.

Even if you're not in America, send in Diagnostics, or they can't know you're having an issue.

I also suggest downloading PingZapper. It's got a free trial for a week, which can help re-route how your router is connecting to the servers.
  • Dude... i send diags to EME... start with that in the same time my ping jump, but they never answerme... i don´t know if they read my e-mails...

You are allowed to use VPNs to re-route your connection, so long as you're not using it to bypass a ban or something like that.

But yeah, this additional lag appears to be caused as your connection enters the US. Taking a different route in will probably bypass the problem.
  • You think you have a problem, this is normal for us in the land downunder.

    https://ibb.co/jO8Kob

Have used different VPN's to reroute the connections, but it doesn't matter as soon as it hit's a zayo.com interlink it goes bad.

P.S. That's Australia if you didn't know the song.

yep found this out my self the hard way recently and ended up easier not to use it and put up with the 300 odd ping I have

You realise that savvis is worse for us than zayo. That ping you have 220 is pretty much damn low for aussie ping. If they had savvis back we'd get 270-400 again, because with the savvis routing when it hits japan a certain isp node its really [filtered] for us and adds like a extra 100+ ping and random points in the day. Trust me zayo is the better of the two. I had to deal with the alternative for over a year.

I have the same problem from the EU and many players are leaving to eutera from this lag. Enmasse should consider moving away from both zayo/savvis.

200 ping is u problem..? u see my pic..?? with 200 ping u can play... with my 600/800??... nobody, that is the problem.
  • I honestly don't see how this is on EME to fix. When you're this far away from the server, you're likely going to run into high ping and routing issues. It would be like me going on the forums for PSO2 and saying that I may have to quit playing the game because of the lag I experience (connecting to a Japanese server from across the world). Of course, it would be great if EME could set up servers in multiple locations, but I don't think that's a possibility at this point.

As recommended by others, connecting through a VPN may improve the ping. That amount of lag is more than likely caused by your ISP.

It's not as if we're blaming light speed for being too slow here, or the world for being too big of a disk sphere, it's just the routing itself that is inconsistent from time to time, and it was a problem with US users themselves, so in big part, it really is up to En Masse to deal with the routing issues. The deal is some players use to be able to play normally before, then suddenly it went haywire.
It is possible that it is entirely out of En Masse's scope indeed, say the issue happens before it reaches NA. But if it's some NA node that introduces too much latency to TERA servers, that's one thing for En Masse to note, as it affects NA players as well in some parts. Not to mention... well, non-NA players may also move the economy a lot and contribute a lot to the health of the community, NA players ain't gonna play alone, if there's too few NA, no need to neglect outsiders. -insert political wall memes here-

My ping solved through using vpn, but I would have to pay for that convenience and that's not an option for many players. Losing players from lag because many people have no choice to pay for vpn would hurt their bussiness. Less players, less sales from emp. This was one of the reason why many players ran away to EUTera. Theres 5 people from my guild also around EU which has the same issues. Were considering moving to EUtera from this lag.

My connection is being routed from San Fransisco for some reason.
  • Is not EME fault is US peering, is the same peering like back in the 90's or 00's, US IPS's didnt do much to update the infrastructures thus the big bucks some pay for an slow internet connection and high ping.
My ping 2 yeas ago was 110ms form EU to the servers now if I get 110ms is a miracle.
You can use VPN it might help.

    Yes
the more the distance can create ping
Some providers and their routing will also create ping
And EME's choice of server will also create ping

The hard part is getting all these problems to run optimal for all players , and that can be an interesting situation to balance out
