I think it's safe to say most of us(if not all) understand that, all we're hoping for is that you'll choose people who actually want to be in the council and help the game rather than just sit there and do nothing. That's probably one of the reasons why people worry about this.
Hope that we get genuine people who really want to help the community. ^.^
Finding top players in Tera and ask them if they can help on the forum is much better than asking a bunch of ppl catering on the forum if they have enough knowledge to solve the problems in game.
Also, if you're still talking about wanting them to help with event and role playing then nevermind. Good luck with your soon-to-be assistants.
If people want to be in the council to help, then they should apply. If some people choose to do nothing, they'll most likely be kicked from council.
You'd be surprised at the amount of people i've seen in various other games that applied for these councils just to do nothing....honestly it's pretty funny when you see their numbers.
There are always freeloaders in everything, but I'm sure it will show up in what they do.
A lot of people applied, and there are more outstanding applicants than there are current open positions, so please don't worry about that. I also don't have a problem removing people from the council if they aren't participating. There's no benefit to joining if you don't intend to make the most of it.
Either way, I am glad to see it went from an idea to a reality, i just hope it isn't too late.
Good job taking over Spacecats, EME needed you more than they realize. You possibly, single handedly, saved the community on the forums and some players in game.
Treeshark being more vocal with the community has also helped a great deal. Unfortunately community interaction, though large, is not what will save this game. This player council needs to have a say in what happens in N/A patches or else it will just be a community agreeing with each other and nothing will come of it.
Best Wishes,

I hope the ones that applied do have the time to make the most out of it. I know a few that did not apply because they couldn't dedicate the time
I personally had filled out the application, but never submitted it because I don't play TERA enough nor would dedicate the time. That time passed when Vanarchy was removed.
I do not believe the council will be able to have a say in what happens for NA patches due to logistics, but at least their feedback should be more organized and presented. It still depends on what BHS studios will send to EME as part of the patch and what EME can change from their end.
Like for example, back then KTERA made BAMs what they are today. We argued against it and Knoxxer posted that the change would not be implemented in NA. However, that made us have a more customized version of the game that took longer to patch and we ended up having a 8 months delay in content. The solution was to implement the KTERA changes so we could get content in a few months instead of 6+ like we were at that time.
I remember reading something in 2012 about having EME being a co-developer for TERA since BHS is the owner, but that never came to be. Some speculated that scrapped plan was the reason they have what it looks like to be a very big office, but that has never been confirmed by anyone that works there lol.
Same here. I have had multiple large scale threads, some controversial others not. Create a list of 50 items recommended by the community for the game ect. However since then, i have not dedicated any time to tera. I can no longer support the game like i used to.
I've updated the OP to reflect the new date.
Good luck to those who are selected!
Quite honestly, I don't know what everyone is talking about with even minor forum moderation as it seems pretty irrelevant to what I had believed this 'council' would be used for way back when it was first announced on the old forums. If you want help with weeding out minor problems on the forums or community involvement, then you should just give a few people who can mostly be trusted to act objectively (like CounterPoint) some low level forum moderation powers. What this player council should achieve is a collecting of game experience and knowledge. Forum use is irrelevant because any issue raised on the forums has been raised or seen in game and you shouldn't be asking these people to dedicate time on the forum, and quite honestly, most shouldn't be trusted; you are looking for game experience, not community involvement (I assumed). They should simply be the collection of knowledge and use of that knowledge streamlined to those who could potentially make changes. Nothing more, nothing less. Again though, I really don't think it is going to make a difference. As I already said, they are going to suggest many things that neither EmE nor BHS will like, and they will be right quite a few number of times. Continual rejection is bound to lead to disinterest.
One last thing to note, transparency needs to be near 100% for these council players. They need to know what EXACTLY EmE can and cannot do, or what BHS will or will not allow them to do. They also need to be diverse players, and you do that by setting one or two specific areas where they can contribute. As someone already brought up, a general list is a good start, and then break it down from there.
My pessimistic two cents.
I'll take $15.99 a hr... I dont work for free
