Hewwo owo, Cuddles here again!
So, I know i've been up and down with my position on PvP tournaments, one day i'm discontinuing the series, the next i'm making more, the next i'm making more and ETC ETC. I've been like that for a few reasons but the main reason is because of lack of resources. In the past, I used to be a hardcore grinder and was able to easily make the money needed to finance tournaments, now, however, I barely play anymore (meaning i'm going broke LUL). Also, trying to balance my time with the (not past) CM's time, since it seems Spacecats goes on vacation every other week eue, this was a large reason why I cancelled the last one. Though I have a bunch of cool [filtered] I don't mind giving away, the CM has the key to the "vault", for lack of a better term xD, and could really give some ridiculous prizes. On that note, there is hope.
Spacecats just recently resigned, meaning we will soon have another CM, likely willing to finance these tournaments with sick prizes. Besides that, I think it's about time I did some Q and A:
Are you completely done with tournaments?
- Hopefully not. Though it gets annoying it's fun
Where do you get most of your prizes?
- As I said before, I used to grind alot and was pretty much rich for a good year or so.
Will you continue the "Fey forest battle royale series?"
- Uh, no. The tournaments will be on MT because that's where the PVP is right now.
Do you already have a team for your 'next' tournament?
- LOL, no. I usually have a friend that streams for me, for the last couple it's been "deh.reaper" (awesome camera guy btw). For positions like commentators and referees, I'd usually recruit on discord or here on the forum. If I do another tournament, however, I will add another spot for a editor.
Were all those prizes that you advertised a month ago just lies?
- No, majority of those prizes come from my own bank. I listed a few stuff like, "stormcy box/frostmetal box". Usually how this works: I message the CM a list of stuff I need. Usually they give me what ever I ask for, no problem. However, Spacecats schedule was a bit loopy so I didn't feel comfortable going farther(further?) without 100% guarantee.
Do you rig the brackets?
- NO. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seed_(sports) < read.
Will the next tournament be guardian only?
- Yes.
Will there be a preliminary round if too many people join?
- More than likely.
Is Valkyrie still banned?
- No. It's 2018, get gud.
How long do tournaments take?
- 2-4 hours usually

One could argue that there never was, and I'm 100% sure there never was. Let's move past that, however, and aim to take these problems as opportunities for solutions
You mean to say that the Reaper was balanced in any sort of way? I beg you to remember about the fraywind canyon clash when a limit per class was needed because there were just too many reapers and that canyon clash remained in the history as the only one called "the purple sea" since you could see the purple color everywhere on the ground.
Still, i like the idea from this thread and i want to wish you good luck.
I kinda miss the PvP in this game ( even the alliance as stupid as it was with AC auras ).
There were never true balance on PvP but that is not the thing that hurts most pvp on any game. You can see even the most pvp games there is not such thing. What hurst pvp is how much overpowered is a class and how much this gap last.
There are some problems with the "big infrequent tournament" model you've been doing; meta changes and the lack of "data" makes it hard to make appropriate rules/handicaps, it takes a long time to do events with a lot of participants and not everyone can make it, having one person organize it is probably difficult for you too, you have to choose between different formats (1v1, 3v3) and people get all nervous about participating because they are worried about looking good/performing in a big event.
I think more frequent events would be a lot better for the pvp community. A lot of people are just garbage at pvp, especially 1v1/3v3 type stuff because there aren't many chances to do it. The barrier to entry is high when duels with good players aren't always available, players are worried about how they look winning/losing duels, people are similarly nervous about forming teams for 3s. Frequent low stakes tournaments that are geared toward anyone participating would be better for getting people experience and actually growing participation in the pvp community and the ability of the people in it.
The challenge here is that organizing lots of events is difficult too, but I think using the discord could potentially make it work ok. You could have people volunteer to organize events too so that it's not just you running things, and could also use it to more easily gauge interest. I think it would be a good idea to just ask on the discord if people would be interested in doing small tournaments on certain dates, could also ask about interest stuff like 3v3 and team 1v1 (where members do best of threes until one team runs out of people, could help some classes avoid bad matchups).
But yeah, basically if you present a sort of "Fight Club" where the community holds a pvp event every month or two weeks or something to the discord, I think there would definitely people willing to participate/help organize, even if the prizes are not as big.
Also I, and probably a lot of other people, think you should use the team 3s arena for these things. The koreans do it so it's obviously the best. Here's a video (and don't believe General's lies, gunners are allowed to use bot heals in Korea (~20:00) ):
Some good [filtered] in that set of videos, archers in particular doing stuff I haven't really seen in NA (though I think they may have had some stuff banned).

Those are some really good suggestions. I will, for sure, implement that discord idea, especially seeing how well it worked with Xuy's tourament.
About 3v3 and team 3s, I will probably never do those. As you said before, they're hard to organize especially for one person. Also I don't necessarily want to have a 10 hour tourament (as I've seen most 3v3 tournaments last). Thank you for the feedback !
You'll be spending more time figuring out which is BM and which is not.. rather that host one proper..
I hope and wish your tournament will go well, OP.
> Archers not using RoA, sorcs not using fireblast. Gunners spamming single skills with no combos. Weird tourney.
Fireblast leads to getting leashed immediately if you don't warp before casting or animation cancel right after damage and iframe
