Guardian Missions: Is it 15 players that get ranked per mission?

So, I noticed in today's patch notes that is specifically states the following in regards to the number of players that can participate in a Guardian Mission.
(max 15 players per mission)

I have two concerns over this:
1) Whilst EU doesn't explicitly state the amount of players that can participate, it is at least more than 15 (I think the cap is 20), but the lowest I've ranked is 17th, meaning the lowest rank I've actually seen is 19th.
2) On certain servers, I can see certain large guilds of high DPS players deliberately out-DPSIng gearing players to prevent them getting the rewards because Gem boxes can be very valuable if you get enough of them. Yes, Guardian Missions use a DPS meter style contribution to determine your rank.

Can we get a confirmation that it is 15? and would an increase in the limit be considered if the missions get really busy?

  • 1) if you are in a party, you can still summon your party members to your channel even thought your channel already reaches the max number of players

    2) The more dps, the more contribution point and the higher rank. So it means, if you are with 14 strong dps and ranked 15, you will get less contribution point and it will take longer to get full point for the reward.

There are 2 options. You run with strong dps so that you finish your channel quickly (with low contribution), and go to other channel and finish that as well. Or, you run with poor dps so that your party/raid (or channel) finishes it slowly, but you will out dps others which means you will get more contribution from a single channel
  • I think that there is nothing to worry about it on NA because on EU for example 90% of the players have more or less the same time zone while on NA the players have time zones that are spread all over and since any player can join/leave the guardian missions while the missions themselves increase/decrease in difficulty based on the current players then there should not be that much of a competition. And even on EU at least in my case i did some test runs at around 3PM up to 5PM on a week day and i could usually get a decent spot as a brawler out of the usually 5-15 players that i was finding per channel ( it was on Killian which is the most populated PvP server ).

What was hard though was the fact that the bams kinda started to hit very hard as in 2shot when the channel was full and it was messy to keep dying and ressing to get back for more dps.. So it will be harder for melee to do it when the channel is full because the ranged dps usually has time to dodge the stuff..

Now i wonder how the healers manage with this one..

As a healer (priest) I barelly die, but cant keep up with the contribution that any other player does, so im usually in one of the last places.
After you get to know the mechanics, you'll die less i guess.
I didnt see enough incentive to be in a party and be supportive to my time to be honest, so im usually alone too.

I was a brawler and i was undergeared compared to my NA version but i still could get top seven more or less so it felt like it was not so bad.. though i have to say that i was not online at the prime times so it might have been different if more geared players were there. But what i wanted to say is that if healers do not really have enough incentive to be there while the lancers also have a hard time then it is only brawlers that might even try? And if somehow both healers/tank decide to go on their dps in the long run instead of healing/tanking then who will tank or heal at the bams? Because if nobody does then the bams will start to randomly 2shot everyone and it can create a huge mess where the more dps you do then the more aggro you create and the more you are likely to get targeted and killed? ^^

p.s. many times i have considered to prepare my gunner on NA for the guardian missions
  • im a little worries about going as my mystic(main). i would hate to do double to tripple the guardian missions cause i would be in last place constantly.

Ranking doesn't matter, you don't need to be in party/raid either.

You get the reward when you reach 100k contribution points, this can be done 40 times a day on 1 character, can be done again on alts.
There is a daily reward of 600 gold vanguard when you do it per character as well.

In my opinion the best method is to do the 100k contribution once per character to claim the box and vanguard 600 gold then hop on another alt and repeat.

Brawlers can put up good dps even undergeared. I mean, its not an awesome dps, but doing good rotations and having ping on your side you can get a good spot in the rank i guess.
Comparing to a healer, even a well geared healer, an undergeared tank or dps can always get more contribution (assuming they know what they're doing ofc).
im a little worries about going as my mystic(main). i would hate to do double to tripple the guardian missions cause i would be in last place constantly.

I felt that i had to work in double comparing to other non-healers tbh, and as I said in other place, after 15 or 20 chests I was already fed up and lost a bit of time.
Since we can get 40 chests per day, im not sure if i can be bothered to get them all.
I would rather be rewarded better for supporting the party.
i still pay attention to the people tanking specially, if they're stunned or something and even out of party i try to support anyway, but still...
