Frostmetal Gear questions

My husband and I got to frostmetal gear almost a week ago, and we are stuck at Frostmetal +0 on everything. We are stuck because we don't know how to get the golden darics. I looked it up, and it says you have to craft them. Is that really the only way? Neither of us have done crafting on our characters and aren't a part of any guild either. And with emeralds, we have ran many dungeons, but total we only have 7 emeralds. Are dungeon runs the only way to get Emeralds? I also noticed runs aren't GUARANTEED an emerald will drop every time.

Golden Darics are crafted by Artisan level weaponcrafters. Unfortunately, it's the only way to obtain them. You can find a weaponcrafter, and hand him 2 golden talents (and artisan refining kits) per daric.
Emeralds can be obtained by running Ghilliglade, dungeons, or crafted by artisan alchemists, or even pit of petrax, but it's a slight chance.

My opinion is to find a guild with your husband. There are plenty of people out there that can craft them for you, and being in a guild helps!

You can buy them off the Broker, but other than crafting, that's the only way to get anything after Golden/Silver Talents (Darics, Plates).

There are events that may be ran with Gems as rewards, but you can easily run dungeons such as Ghillieglade or Pit of Petrax, both having a (small) chance of dropping an Emerald. Outside of dungeons and rare events that offer gems as rewards, there's no sure fire way outside of, just like with Darics and Plates, either crafting or buying off the broker. You can sell all the rubies and Sapphires you get in GG and PP to get enough Gold and buy them off the broker.

Farm low tier IoD BAMs for golden talents. Either sell those and buy darics (not efficient,) or craft them into darics yourself and use them. A full set of 16 on an alt yields 224 talents currently, but this will probably be 112 in a few hours.

You can craft rubies (from dailies, ghilliglade, and Pit of Petrax) into emeralds. It's not really efficient to straight up craft rubies into emeralds, but if you want to, go for it.

I would suggest you each get a craft up to artisan level (one weapon, one alchemy) to assist your gearing. I would also suggest to join a guild, if not only for the social benefits, for the various buffs that guilds provide (increased hp/mp/crit/power/movement speed, etc.) Find like minded people and join them.
  • is it better to sell all of my rubies/sapphires and just buy emeralds off the broker with the gold, or is it better to turn the sapphires into emeralds?

Probably the later, but you have to factor in that the Emerald design will cost a fair penny as well. Depending on your server, Emeralds are probably currently listed for more than their current value. (On TR, last I checked, Emeralds were going for roughly 1400-1800 per piece, which is 400-800 more than they are valued at by selling to an NPC.)

I am from TR. Do guildmates make emeralds for you if you give them the materials?

Depends on which guild. Some are willing to help, some aren't. If you're willing to provide the materials, chances are players are willing to craft them for you.

I can't see why any guild mate would say no, but you would also have to give them crafter's cures so they can replenish their pp.

I think that the best is to wait and be patient because we will get the Guardian Missions which are much more fun than IOD ( finally something else! ) since we will be able to interact with other players or even play together and also the said missions will give gear experience plus tradeable boxes with gems that you can either open or sell ( rubies/sapphires/emerald/diamonds).

Also, the new guardian NPCs will give RNG ( a list of items given out considering their perspective chance from the box ) boxes which will include enchanting materials but also designs for gold daric/plate plus emerald/diamonds and silver siglo/plate.. And i suspect that the prices will drop on the said designs sooner or later.

So if you and your husband ( i hope that he made the right choice with this one.. haha kidding!! ).. will wait a little and do the guardian missions then at the very least you will have a decent income to either craft or buy the golden darics while also getting some gear experience to have an easier time with the frost metal ( i encourage you to get +7 or +9frostmetal weapon first if any of you is a dps class for the guardian missions ).

That new event is starting today right? Is the event doable with just 2 people, or do you actually need 15 people? If you need 15 people, is it a thing like wintera where you just queue up and the game finds you a party? Is there a guide somewhere or a detailed explanation about how this event works?

well, i'd suggest you two to start develpoing crafting in all professions, it's really useful and you don't depend on anyone. if you have 2 characters each you can cover them all.
  • It is more like a new addition to the game than event so it will be there 24/7 as far as i know and the greatest thing about it is that any player or party can join or leave whenever so if you feel like doing guardian missions for ten minutes or two hours then you can simply jump in and do that since a new channel will be created with up to 15 players then when the channel is a full a new channel will be created and so on.. And the difficulty of the monsters are updated in real time depending on the number of players in each channel so it will be doable for almost any number up to the max..

Actually, it is easier from my experience as long as there are less players because it is easier to rank and also compete for damage or anything else while the monsters do not hit as hard because when the channel was full it was harder to climb up the ranks ( the better you do the more points you get ) and the monsters were as strong as to 2shot the brawler that i had which was equipped with +0SC armor at the time.

Also, it seemed like i was getter better points from the green quests than the blue one so i was going for the green ones first then the blue one then again i was a brawler and i was having a hard time staying alive or doing damage when the channel was full so it might be different for a dps class and especially a ranged one.
