They didn't listen...no more double vanguards. PLEASE REVERT

Welp, a new month has started and double vanguards are officially gone. Guess they didn't listen afterall. EME please revert the vanguards to how we are used to... Don't fix something that isn't broken. Listen to what the players want please!

I think that the time limit from the last month was set up to the start of this month just as the x2 vanguards expired at the end of December last year.

I wonder now what kind of changes the x1 vanguard will bring? updated shop hopefully? 100% keen mote? And maybe those double/triple events here and there? Or it will be x1 vanguards with some double/triple events here and there?

Someone on another thread did the math and it came out to be needing about 2 weeks of triple vanguard in a month to break even with the rest being single vanguard.

Sounds like a dumn decision by eme, picking which days its worth playing and which days we can afk hw. Double vanguard works for everyone, everyday, any time.

That is true according to a simple math: even if we have double or triple vanguards every week end then we are still at loss compared to constant double vanguards. And on top of that it is also true that it kinda forces players to be online certain days to catch up or else lose even more overall.

But the vanguard points are relative to whatever is in the shop and if we run double vanguards with outdated shop or normal vanguards with updated shop then is it not better to have the option with the updated shop where we might even have 100% keen at IOD and even some double or triple events? There is no longer an issue for glyphs or enchanting materials for example because players also have the option to get them from guardian missions while at the same time we might get 100% keen which would make IOD easier for the new or undergeared players?

I am not sure how good it is to have the vanguard as double considering that the shop is outdated and niveots barely sell at 400g or less.

Its not so much the vanguard credits as much as it is the dragon scales, the iod tokens/boxes, and nocts. There isnt any other reliable way to get nocts other than daily vgs. Cutting it in half is also an issue. For iod bams, it takes 180 tokens for ONE glyph. With single vg being only 12 tokens, itll take 5 days to get 1 glyph assuming u do all 3 bams. The golden talents and mats will also be cut in half. Imo, updating the vg shop is another issue that deserves its own thread.

This is the weirdest decision ever. As if they're purposely making things harder for themselves. New players will need MONTHS to farm a dragon whereas some people got 4 dragons because of a single event (Argon event). The scales are the only issue here, especially because Vanguard and IoD (which is also reduced to 12 tokens, but that's fine since it's mostly used for etchings anyway) are the only way to get them.

A solution could be adding scales to the Guardian Legion merchant as well, that makes things a bit easier. Making fragments and scales bankable is an option, I mean people who have plenty of scales and fragments on alts probably already have multiple dragons but players who have like 5 fragments across alts are going to be grateful.

You can't just assume that every player has been around for ages and attended every event. Some people, including me, returned to the game because of the new gear progression system. These people generally don't have a (1.5x) dragon yet but are interested in min-maxing. That means they either have to farm for 3 months every single day to get one or spend hundreds on Phoenix lootboxes. The Azure Phoenix doubled in price in the past month and you pretty much need all the gold to enchant your gear.

Throwing another Argon-like event isn't going to solve the issue because there will be people who miss that as well. See, the double vanguard event has been on for ages and everyone farmed scales by running dungeons, except now it will take twice as long. You need 400 scales which means you need to run 400 dungeons now, with most people running RK9 and perhaps LKHM (since SC, BP and TRHM aren't ran that often) you get 2 scales a day (or 4 as elite). Let's assume I get elite just for my dragon; that means I need to run these dungeons for 100 days. Honestly, that's too much of a grind for the average player considering they have a job/school as well. At least before it only took 50 days and running IoD for tokens to convert to scales was actually worth it, now it really isn't anymore.

This needs to change. It probably won't because now they have the "but we guys give you a double vanguard event every month for 24 hours, be grateful"-card.
  • As basically very single person on this and similar threads as already said this is a REALLY REALLY BAD idea.

Leaving aside the fact that the best way to play TERA is to turn up for events and not bother with dungeons anyway, this just makes things DOUBLE as bad because now the incentives to bother playing the game (except for rkx for essences) are basically halved. This makes a pretty bad situation even worse by encourage people to only play dungeons on the extra rewards days...

Just to make this even worse, while established players wont be affected quite so much as they will have geared up their mains, newer players are going to get totally stuffed.

    TLDR:
EME should be buffing vanguard rewards to encourage newer players especially to play regularly and not doing the exact opposite by nerf-batting them to hell.

Double VGs have been an active constant of Tera content for how long now? And you decide to just stop it and then turn it on for events?

How does this make business sense EME?

Giving your players something for so long... Then disabling it and giving it to them as a bonus a few times a month? Wtf.

Sure it would of made sense if it was only turned on for a month as a "teaser" but we've had it for a long time.

    Questionable at the least.

Brilliant... To cut rewards without giving anything instead. Events? I srsly dont think eme's rng events can replace steady way of obtaining stuff.
idk why they always touch something that already works fine instead of fixing something that broken.
  • Sadly..

I did want to see the vanguard shop being refreshed and such but now that i see the rewards being so poor from vanguards then i simply decided to skip them...

    So.. any updates?

They give good opportinity to take break from the game,
take calendar rewards, do Ghillie and do something else, out of the game.
Less online - less load for servers )

Do you really want to discourage players from playing, EME?

I want to decide myself, when and how much to play, what to do, instead of waiting for "event" in inconvenient time for me.

Sadly, I thought for a moment that they would not do it.

Oh well, time to rage on the forums daily about it. Please make your thoughts known. Be vocal. Vote in this poll: https://goo.gl/forms/W9BfpTOpaPBrMnoN2

    Old method: 30 days * 72 = 2160

    New method, with half the month triple: (15 * 36) + (15 * 108) = 2160

They have to do 16 days out of the month (4 day weekend events, 4 times) just to give more than we would have already gotten.

    @seandynamite @Halrath @CobaltDragon

We don't want this change. PLEASE revert back to the VG rewards we have had for 3+ years. It is asinine to take something away that we've had for years and then give it back to us in small increments as a reward. It is a slap in the face.

  • Pretty sure they're selectively ignoring these topics. From their business point of view this is a good move: more grinding for people who really don't want to/can't grind so they feel obligated to buy loot boxes to stay ahead. I am not here to give EME business advice but something that could really help is sometimes listening to the people you expect to swipe their plastics for you.

People create a lot of topics and opinions differ: some players are for and some are against. Did you, EME, notice that no people are against permanent double vanguard? Everyone says this decision is a negative change, not a single white knight to defend you this time. Doesn't that show you that maybe it actually is a bad decision? Listen to your players, please.

last tera stream, eme did say that they were open to giving free stuff, but not always to make it "more exciting, fun, and worth it".

I logged on this morning, cringed at the thought of having to do twice as many vanguards to get the same rewards, logged off and went back to bed since that would be a more productive use of my day off.
