I hate to be picky with your math, but this is a lot worse than your math is suggesting. You added the 12 days with the 30 day month assumption making each month 42 days long.
If they do double rewards on weekends we get:
- 72 tokens per day x 12 days = 864 per month + 648(36 tokens per day x 18 days) = 1512 tokens, which is 648 less than we would have gotten previously
If they do 2x double weekends and 2x triple weekends we get:
- 72 tokens x 6 days = 432, 108 tokens x 6 days = 648, 432 + 648 + 648 = 1728 per month which is 432 less than we would have gotten previously
If they do 4x triple weekends we get:
- 72 tokens x 12 days = 1296 + 648 = 1944 per month which is 216 less than we would have previously gotten.
Unless my math is wrong. Even if every weekend is a triple drop event, there is no way for us to get the number of tokens we would have gotten previously. This makes sense though because 4 days go from 2x to 1x while only 3 days have the potenial to go from 2x to 3x.
I did this math as well and i ended up considering that even if we have double or triple drop event each weekend then we still lose days worth of vanguard rewards compared to the actual system.
I think that EME had two choices: either continue with the double vanguard and do not update the shop or give 100% keen at IOD because it would be too much OR discontinue the double vanguards and update the shop plus giving 100% keen at IOD and give some double or triple drop events here and there.
Personally, i would rather see the shop updated with the 100% keen at IOD and some double or triple drop events here and there because we will be finally able to buy the crafter cure that gives 4kPP from the shop which helps a lot ( if frostmetal ate so many golden darics then stormcry eats even more gold plates ).. while it is also nice to be able to get the yellow noctenium elixir that lasts 30minutes and if EME is kind enough then we might even see some RNG boxes with smart dyads in there... Everything while the new or undergeared players plus even healers while have an easier time doing IOD for etchings/glyphs/etc .. And we might even get some double or triple drop events here and there that for example EU does not have ( though they do use their weekends for double drops or double gear experience instead ).
Old method: 30 days * 72 = 2160
New method, with half the month triple: (15 * 36) + (15 * 108) = 2160
They have to do 16 days out of the month (4 day weekend evens, 4 times) just to give more than we would have already gotten.
They will not have an easier time gearing up. It will now take twice as long for them to farm darics for ilevel 439. They can't even get etchings until they have that. Then they have to do IoD for 3 days to get one etching.
Tokens from Island of Dawn was a good way to get not only master glyphs but also etchings and 1.0 dragon.
With this being caped by half it will only slowdown new players's way to high end end-game content.
I forgot to add earlier but it might not be a coincidence that EME will try the new changes on vanguards because they will align with the guardian missions where players will be able to get gems and enchanting materials plus glyphs and if lucky some designs for golden daric/plate or silver siglo/plate if not for sapphires/emerald/diamond aside from the IOD vanguards.
Actually, if i think about it too much then we might see players doing more guardian missions than vanguards ( at least solo ) whether we will have double vanguards or anything else simply because of the better rewards and also the fact that there will be more interaction with other players.

Don't take something away only to give it back and say that it's an improvement. For people who do a lot of dailies (which probably represents a significant portion of your loyal endgame playerbase), this strongly disincentivizes them. There's been a lot of math tossed around but the simple fact is, for every day there is 1x, there needs to be a day that is 3x. Otherwise, it means you're actually not even giving us back what we had before. If you want opportunities for events, keep it 2x while throwing in occasional 3x weekends.
Just revert it back already. It's been made pretty clear that these changes are unwanted. It's a huge turn off for new players to be motivated to go on with endgame content - hitting 65 and having to work twice as hard to get your glyphs done (not to mention the waste of time when you could simply finish it much sooner). I'm pointing this situation because it's one I'm struggling with at the moment and I bet I'm not the only one.
But, as it has been mentioned several times accross the posts on the forums, it is, as well, a big upsetting change for the community as one, seen that there is absolutely zero motivation to run dungeons at all.
Eme, You might have thought that it would be a good idea and would get people into following a schedule just like battlegrounds but you might've forgotten that battlegrounds are the "only" way to pvp on Tera at the moment - so whether there is a jackpot or not, people would do it anyway (of course the jackpots are a big motivating go - but even with the vg double rewards the game is pretty slow since everybody is done with their hm titles at this point, without any rewards it's guaranteed that no one is going to play at all. If you bother to log on and check the servers' LFG window, you'll notice how empty the game is. Nobody wants to stick to something unrewarding, if they valuate their time, which any sane person does.)

Honestly for new players the biggest struggle is to get glyphs. Even for veterans, if they didn't keep IoD tokens, their new alts aren't going to get glyphs at all...
It's a big throw off for new players not being able to at least get proper glyphs. Of course never getting a dragon is really upsetting but who cares if you can't even bother to play well if you're not able to get your glyphs? :shrug:
It is asinine to compare our region to other regions. Other publishers do what they can for their customer base. EME does what it can for its customer base. The bottom line is that we have had something taken away from us, just to be given back as a "prize," which is a slap in the face.
The VG, token, scale, and enchanting chest nerf means twice as long to farm gear, twice as long to get a dragon, twice as long for a new player to get frostmetal/tier 3 etchings. Top players griped that RKHM/EM gave little no rewards before, now it basically gives nothing. Less nocts, less scales. You realize it takes 3 scales for a bravery that lasts 30 minutes, and a 439 dungeon will take an average skilled group 25-30 minutes? At least when they were 2 scales, you could make your strong bravery back by running the 2nd dungeon and using a normal bravery. Now you just bleed consumables.
Add in the fact that not only have VG credits been halved, the already worthless Entropic Emblem box is even more worthless. You now have to run 3 low tier dungeons to get 1 box. That 1 box doesn't even give you a single talent, since it only gives you 16 emblems. That means you have to run 6 low tier dungeons just to get 2 boxes, to buy 1 gold or silver talent. A new player can only run 2 KC, 2 RG, 2 SF before they have to buy resets, using their measly VG credits... it's in a slap in the face. Entropic boxes are more than worthless now.
IoD was somewhat profitable previously with 224 talents per 16 low tier bams. Now its 112 per 16. Golden talents are selling for ~8g on TR right now. 112 x 8g. That means if you sold them all you would make 896 gold. It takes about 35-40 minutes for a twistshard brawler to do 16 (about 32 with a bravery.) In 40 minutes you can farm ~3k gold and buy 4x that amount of talents yourself. There is no need to farm IoD anymore. It is a waste of time to farm them now.
This is an arbitrarily increased grind. I say arbitrary, because there is not stated justification or reason good enough to explain this. As I've already shown, they would have to do 16 days of triple rewrds just to equal what we would have had previously. That's over half the month. At that point just leave the double credits on all the time.
There are a litany of other things they could appropriately work on.
- The PVP calendar is a joke
- Ace dungeon STILL has Imperator mats in it. 6 months after @seandynamite said he was going to change the shops. Imperator was relevant 2 years ago... that's just terrible. Ace is dead content.
- The VG merchant itself has literally nothing rewarding in it aside from fine niveots; the entropic box only has gold/silver talents
- The entropic box still drops old cruxes. Acrimonious, mutinous? Those things were made obsolete 3+ years ago!!! Battle solutions? Why not add it 1-3 semi enigmatics? Why not at least give updated cruxes?
This is such a joke, such a slap in the face. They are tone deaf.
