Elite Status at Level 65

So, I decided to have a look at what the 15 USD I pay a month to EME for my subscription actually gets me and I put it up in a spreadsheet to make it easier for me to follow. I collated the list of rewards from both EME's website and the in-game mouse-over dialogue.

The first thing that strikes me is there are listed rewards which I'm not even sure are being applied. These are:
1) Daily Bonus Quest Increase: What is it? and What does it apply to?
2) Valkyon Responses from IMS: It's a listed reward, and it doesn't get rewarded anymore. You used to get "Valkyon Response" boxes for completing a dungeon with IMS. I remember that I did used to get Valkyon Response IVs from IMS when completing level 65 dungeons, but I don't remember when the last time I got one was.
3) Monthly Account Rewards: As far as I'm aware, we don't get a "monthly reward".

Then there's the stuff that looks good until you realise how it works:
4) Quester's Gold Boost: This applies only to Story and Area Quests. Doesn't apply to VGs, making it practically useless for a level 65 player.
5) Gold Hunter Boost: I'm not sure there are any monsters/npcs in game that you would kill on a regular basis that drops gold any more. Last one I remember was the gold box in Bathsymal Rise, and that gold drop got nerfed to the point where using a Gold Boost was pointless.
6) Reputation Boost: Unless this applies to Guardian Missions and the rewards, this died a death when Bellacarium and Killing Spree credits were killed off.

As someone that mostly (but not always) runs PvE content, the dungeon entries, nostrums and Crystalbind are the bits that matter to me, because they're part and parcel of what I use. For PvP players that mostly run BGs on the other hand, these three items are pretty useless, and I know a few players in this situation that don't subscribe to Elite status because of these. I don't know about people that like to hang out in VO or PvP during Open World events, so I won't comment.

Crafting Speed is, well crafting speed. Less time crafting means more time to [filtered] kill stuff.

I am having a load of fun on my Gunner bombing around in BGs though, so I might end up in the same position as many of the PvP players in BGs, where I'd actually be better off without it because it wouldn't benefit me.

Are EME considering making tweaks to Elite Status?

  • Only if you are a grinder you need elite. In my case i only got an hour or two a day, and in that time i do RGx2,RK and TRx2. So in my case it would be useless. However, if the gold were doubled to vanguard quest for elites, i would gladly pay.

Also, no fee broker listings. Elite daily gift box and consumable box. 15 EMP log in bonus.

Ummm, I think that is everything.
  • Yeah a lot of them have been actually pretty useless for years but they don't remove them even after multiple people have told them over the years. I think they honestly keep them there at this point just to have a larger list of things that can trick new people into buying elite. Now i'm not saying elite isn't worth it because i have been paying for it(not with vouchers) and i do like elite for a lot of things. But i feel its disingenuous to have basically a list that while is true should still be updated to be relevant, and yes i do know some things have been updated such as the elite gift box/consumable box, crystal binds and the mount every 6-10 months, but it stands that the rest are fairly out dated. Though keep the double rep because otherwise us losing the x2 vanguard rewards will be even worse(which i still am scratching my head over).

    1) This was back when we had faction daily quests, Non-Elite are only allowed to do 10 quests while Elite members can do 20. This hasn't been useful since FoA release as there aren't enough BG dailies to even hit 10, all the factions are level 60 and never updated, and the only 65 factions are Vanguard + Guardian Legion which both don't use daily quests.

    2) I kinda miss Valkyon Responses since they were at least something for whenever you did IMS, but they were removed shortly after Alliance removal.

    3) Elite used to get a monthly reward which people would always complain about, especially if it was a bag of diamonds heh.

    4) Yeap, sadly gold boost doesn't apply to VG quests, only normal/daily quests (which once again aren't really done unless you're bored)

    5) To combat Korean bots all the gold was removed from loot, great idea to keep this in play :+1:

    6) Reputation Boost is actually one of the useful Elite perks, this applies to Vanguard rewards and you earn double the listed VG credits, however it doesn't apply to Guardian Legion.

As for your spreadsheet there are a few things I want to point out:
As mentioned the Rep Boost is useful
The craft speed is useful (before someone comments yes EU has 99% but honestly either one is fine for me)
Elite NEVER gave double VG rewards or quest limit (we always had a 2x VG reward event which EmE recently turned off and the quest limit has been the same for all Elite/Non-Elite players, 8 (total, differing between pve/pvp/misc) at the start then 16) and
The reward system isn't really specific to Elite except for the fact that purchasing elite with your own cash will give you points/credits but that's because you're giving EmE cash just like purchasing EMP.

Overall yea Elite is sort of losing it's charm but it's just another item tossed into a pile of things that need touching up.

unfortunately the upkeep of a lot of thing has been neglected for a long time leaving a lot to be needing updating and has caused 2 things, where to start and how to keep it all working together eg :~
like when they took the gold out it affected the elite rewards with other things , so how to make alterations that wont affect other things as a snow ball affect

  • I think the "Monthly Account Rewards:" thing from the tooltip is a weird carry-over thing -- it has a colon after it to imply that everything listed underneath it is part of the monthly subscription reward, but I think this is from way back in the in the past when there used to be two sections ("Monthly", and "Daily"). So I think they should just remove the header to make it more clear.

The Valkyon Responses thing is also legacy and should be removed, and I agree that it doesn't really make much sense to talk about "daily quests" anymore since that's outdated content.

As for revamping Elite, we've had a few threads about it over the last few months, and it's tricky to find the right balance so that it's desirable without seeming "P2W". I won't rehash all the ideas from the past thread again, but the more radical changes probably require BHS intervention.

I would love for Elite to have more item with discounts on cash shop, and I don't think that is p2w but something pretty normal when you pay a suscription on any bussiness.

hmmm you 100% sure on that? I do feel like it did use to give double VG quest limit during That Ain't Right days, it was literally the only moment I bought a month voucher, when I decided to farm a bit of that. Honestly it was boring as heck but it was a quick way to cap out the weekly VGs. Somehow I remember that it did double the quest cap, but well, memory can be deceiving so I'm just bringing this up, not saying it's true. Either this or you got double rewards from it, but now I forgot which and I could be wrong anyway.

Guys, honestly, do not lose hope on the whole "pass along feedback please" situation, since you may remember the whole fiasco about the permanent CCB being removed then replaced for 24x 1 hour ones that were bound to create a heck of a headache in dungeons. They did revert back the CCBs, they do have the tools to tweak Elite, so don't lose hope.

I would say that bringing up ideas on how to improve it could be a very productive way to make it better sooner than we even expect. Tho let's also not forget the understaffed situation anyway.

It was double the credits and rep. If you were Elite you capped out your 9000 VG credits twice as fast, but had the same number of gold rewards as everyone else.

The reason I recall this is because at the time of TAR, I was not Elite. But my best friend who was/is Elite and I would run TAR together. We always finished our VG turn ins at the same time, but she had to watch her totals a lot more often than I did.

I only have elite now for no broker fees since I am active on broker.

I can't believe I forgot to list free travel journal. I only use it constantly.

The real value of elite comes in if you are a power user: that is, mass brokering, mass dungeon spamming, getting your blue nocts slightly faster due to easier access to vanguard credits and mass crafting. Free 280 mount is QoL (I never buy mounts on my alts and usually don't give them dragons either)

If you don't fall into any of these categories, elite isn't worth it at all. Especially for a player who has difficulty even clearing 16 vanguard requests on multiple characters without doing IoD.

I personally think Elite can use a few more QoL perks so that more non-power users can somewhat utilise it.
