  • This is not the way to do an "event" to make us move on from complaining about losing the rewards we received from Oct - Jan. Fix your crapola.

If you want me to be honest...

The amount of rewards EME gave out this event (original rewards) is barely a 10th of what mongos (which was the real cancer) did. Them changing the old mongos was necessary for the game to not completely die out (although they should seriously rollback during that mongo fiasco).

Look at how the event is coded in and you will realise that this system is bound to fail.

    1) Quest logging is typically sent to the server in a single thread.

    2) You send one tick for every quest outcome that is cleared.

    3) Hundreds of people clear ticks every second due to raid counting ticks.

    4) As we all know even with the server being extremely horrible over the months, Zayo and Savvis, Tera's two main routing providers, are prone to data limitations (this is a known issue on other games running with these providers), causing the server to feel even more laggy than it already is.

If this event can be done in maximum a party or even just solo, the number of ticks sent per BAM drops drastically. This will then make it easier for the server to handle the load (1 bam => 30 ticks is horrible especially when these ticks can be spammed all over the game).

The two ways to solve this is 1) to tell BHS to git gud and actually do proper multithread handling on quest counters (no korean game does this atm but really this is important) or 2) Reduce the amount of calculations needed to achieve the desired goal, and if it meant making the situation more restricted, so be it, at least you get a working event and people will be glad to do your event.

  • Lol i just thought today: why i did it with five chars till 100:D
  • I once asked about responsibility about content and was told that as it is as is, ... I so want to work in this line of industry, not like I am now. :/
This "event" again shows there is 0 responsibility and 0 consequences. Even tho EU shut it down, EME pushed it, to have people use as guinea pigs.
Hope they got data they wanted, as they upset many in process.
Cold have just said sorry, something went wrong and maybe give out a small silly Valentines gift, but no, let people suffer and also be disappointed.

Some mindless grind for RNG, is not a fun event. :(

    PS
EME might want to update their launcher still saying about maintenance and also their web page about Valentine BAM event, or they want to keep it, as another monument, how they failed again.
  • I'm not really sure why people are complaining? You weren't up at 3am EST to farm the event lmao?? You had to sleep for work or school??? You're silly! I was really happy when I came home at 4:30PM from my long day of work to participate in an event on one character only to have it nerfed shortly after. I wasn't upset by the change either because people who had day off were able to farm it on 8 characters hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111111111111111111111111111

I haven't played this game very long, but I'm really surprised by this last event. I did not participate, because it didn't sound that great to begin with. However, seeing people that started right away be rewarded with so much while others were pretty much told "too bad so sad" makes me realize what so many speak of when they mention how poorly things are run here. No matter what the issue, telling people they can just make it up with extra Vanguards is ridiculous. "Hey, go spam something else all weekend to make up for us cutting the other event short." Not everyone spams Vanguards, so how does that make up for it? The fix would have been simply to take the smaller rewards off and then have a larger rewards bag at 50 or something like that. However, they just ripped the lower rewards off and started it at 500. As usual, some people were highly rewarded while others were somewhat punished. The only ones happy about the Vanguard switch are the ones that spam Vanguards already. They aren't the people you need to bring into the game, because they are most likely already playing on a daily basis.

Any of the excuses as to why the event was cut short were totally foreseeable. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out people were going to spam for the lower prize amounts or that they were all going to be killing the same BAMs. The event was geared towards them spamming the lower amounts and all fighting for the same BAMs. So why even blame the players? There was absolutely no reason why they would have been expected to clear thousands of kills on one character before moving onto the next. That is just silly.

Yeah.. there was a few events where people got a really great advantage on rewards and then Enmasse finally realized how much they were getting and didn't like that.. so they changed it half way through the event and reduced the rewards significantly screwing over anyone who started late in the event. This is another prime example of that.. they saw how many people were getting rewards on all of their characters so they made up the excuse that due to server lag it's the reason why they are removing the lower kill amount rewards since it's much easier to obtain. They are keeping the 500 so you will do it on your main characters only and won't feel so obliged to do it on an alt.. So basically killing the event..

Which I don't really understand when they have other events practically throwing thousands of nocts and other consumables at people. So what, people were getting lots of stuff. Let them. If strongbox events can dump hundreds of thousands of consumables into the market, why worry about an event like this? So frosty mantles flood the market. Who cares. Bomber boxes were allowed to flood the market right after they had them on sale in the Tera store. It all just doesn't make much sense.

It doesn't make sense because that wasn't the reason they cancelled the event at all. If it weren't for the server performance problems (caused by BHS's inefficient code), they would have left it running as planned.
