And to those who actually said something about respecting culture, I thank you for actually saying something and acknowledging.
To EME Umm next time you disrespect someone's culture and holiday without research don't try and host it. EME should actually know what they did wrong and not let it brush over, like oh an asian is complaining. I dare you to try and host a Jianshi event in Korea while they are also celebrating the new year and see if they are going to slap you guys. That just shows how ignorant and disrespectful you are.
For those who can't imaging why I'm complaining about:
IF someone who is religious and during the celebration of christmas and then you received gifts about death how would you feel?! This is legit wishing someone bad luck throughout the year.
This is so idiotic. Do you know how many people of Asian descent live in NA?
Holydays outside the original region are not bound to be celebrated the same way or are you implying that I as a Mexican should be offended for the fact that USA celebrate the May 5th as if that were the most important day for Mexican people in their History?
You have to acknowledge the fact that when an special date is used in another country it will have only purpose of marketing, nothing more, marketing doesn't give a [filtered] about people from diferent cultures getting offended.
By the way, Santa Claus is more than enought to be an offensive image by a chistian at christmass days, yet I don't think they complain to every company that use him as an image for those holydays because that image is a way to drive away people from god.
You also need to be tolerant about other people culture if you want them to show respect for yours when you are outside from your own country.
Btw, I really get amused you don't get offeded by being called loser by the first user that replied in this thread.
I was just like "Jeez guy, don't be so offended by a hat name"
My bad, my bad... That was crappy of me, OK.
Maybe a bad example, given the death skulls with santa hats? Tacky, but no one complained beyond that. I think our holidays are more mix-and-matxh than most other cultures.
Good point about wishing someone bad luck here--that did a lot to help me see what the fuss might be about.
Eme was trying to host an event for lunar new year, and because that item is the only asian thing that is named out, they decided that it's okay to give away an item about zombies. They didn't do any research before thinking it's okay to make that as an marketing thing.
And if EME did to make an event for a Mexican holiday and instead of giving out anything related and gave an item that offended you guys without research how would you feel?!
2nd, half the topic people are being racist and disrespectful to asians because we think that it's a good meaning. Yes just because it's an IMPORTANT holiday to us asian's in NA, BR , CN, KR , CAD, doesn't mean we like to be [filtered] on.
3rd, If those people actually have a good reason on why they are complaining during xmas cause of a company then the company should have done their research first before a blacklash.
Maybe I will laught, believe me.
Most of the companies that held mexican parties on their restaurants, bars or night clubs doesn't even research about mexican culture and only trown randow shet without knowing what does that really mean.
