Does diag.enmasse.com have a vastly different ping than in-game for anyone else lately?

Since the swap to zayo, my ping in-game has generally been in the 15-25 region, but for the last little bit it's usually 35-45 in game, or 150+ during certain hours (not even prime time..?) even though my ping to diag.enmasse.com stays at 15-16 at all times. They used to be pretty much identical, so i'm wondering if this is just an issue with MT or the network inside the data center or what..? has anyone else noticed a huge difference between diag.enmasse.com pings and in-game pings? (maybe specifically on mount tyrannus?)

Edit: thought i'd add a screenshot to show you what i'm on about.. these were taken at the exact same time, as you can see my ping to the test server is 15 but in game it's well over 100.. 5y3AHUS.jpg

@KillerPenguins Do you remember the massive lag that happened during the BAMassacre event that got wound down?

During that event, the ping to diag.enmasse.com was the normal 90ms ping for me, but my in game ping to MT was staying above 200ms and spiking as high as 500ms.

What that indicated is that the route to the EME servers was fine but MT was falling over due to the stress caused by the event.

I have always got the ping in-game like the one it says in the diag.

A diference about +/- 10 ms at most.

If in-game my ping is about 90 diag says the about the same, if my ping in game is about 140 the diag is around that amount also.

Same here as Elin Usagi: just did the test for no other reason (the plain "ping diag.enmasse.com") and got around the same ping with 5ms difference. My in-game ping is 180ms normal and I got 3 175ms responses and one 190ms one.

Was there any event going on during those moments, or are you having this ping difference always, regardless of time you check? You said it's not prime time, but looks a lot like servers getting crushed. I mean I had horrible lag spikes yesterday evening here (which is about ~12 PM on server time), I also wouldn't call this prime time but was getting IM matches normally even as DPS and actually stopped playing cause it was annoying to suddenly with no warning I get 1s stuck into nothing waiting for any command to happen. This was a big thing back when VS dungeon came, in fact I tried it on launch day and our party got stuck waiting for like 1 minute just frozen there.
  • I also had these kind of issues for the last few weeks and i kept thinking that it must be my IPS though generally i never had any issues with the ISP and especially since my pings are fine except MT that lags at certain hours up to the fact where my game either lags really badly as in 250-300ms making it unplayable.. or even freezes for several seconds now and then with my ping going down to a fixed 0 ( i had a friend that told me that i should probably move to TR because the ping there seems better ).

Sometimes tracert to diag.enmasse.com shows completely different ping. 128ms ingame and 220ms through diag.enmase.com from bad routing within zayo.
Why give us diag.enmasse.com to check our ping and not the actual servers ip?

where did they say use diag.enmasse.com to check your ping did i miss something i know they said submit your dx diag there.
  • I been having this issue for like 3 weeks now, everything looks fine until the tracert hits the server, also I can login, have my normal ping for about a minute then it goes to 150ms, contacted support and all they said to me was "use a vpn"....... 10/10 support, but hey, I bet is too hard for eme to ask zayo/abovenet about that right?, Im somewhat glad Im not alone on this, lets see if more ppl pester them so they actually do something about it.

There was another topic related to this regarding the lag but that got closed down. We already had lag problems for 2 years but still unsolved. EME will do nothing about it. Alot of players migrated to euTERA from the lag already.
