Is Tera worth getting back into these days?

I used to play WAY back when it first came out in Korea... like way back in 2011.
I've been on and off it very casually until about 2013. Haven't touched it since it got transferred to Nexon in Korea, and didn't even know it made it to steam until recently.

Well now I'm seeing that it's free to play on steam, so I would like to ask if it's still worth getting into (i.e. starting over). I never reached endgame back when I played, and I used to solo whatever I can (I did instant match or play with some friends on some dungeons that required multiple players).

Is there still enough player base for someone completely starting from scratch to proceed through the earlier parts of the game (if not, are they solo-able?) I just remember waiting for a long time to get any instant matching just to proceed through some dungeons at around level mid-20 or so, and it was simply impossible to solo in the case I couldn't find any.

  • In general, they've far increased the speed at which you level, and they've also increased amount of ways you can earn experience along the way. If you want, you can now level all the way to 65 without entering a single dungeon with a combination of story quests and BAMs. In terms of instance matching times, it depends in part on what class you play and the time of day, but again there are no more options besides dungeons to progress, so you can do something while you wait.

So anyway, in terms of the leveling process itself, I don't expect you'll run into any major roadblocks with the changes they've made to the game now.

If you want to play this game casually and stick to mid tier dungeons you will be fine. If you want to play this game seriously and go try hard max mlg sweating. Then you have to prepare to farm like a zombie or p2w to glory.
  • Yes, it’s worth it. A super fun game

No more leveling walls, have op avatar weapons for just about all level ranges, fast leveling, don't need to do dungeons to level or even really gear up till end game, can solo BAMS with any most classes easily, enchanting is far easier (glowing weapon as soon as u get off newb island and ever time u obtain a new avatar weapon), and 5 new classes. It's at least worth a try.
  • Thanks for the replies, folks. Yeah it does sound like it's worth a try!
