Lvl 65 gear progression question
Hello! I have a question regarding getting end game gear! I ve been searching for a proper gearing guide but non helped me understand past twisthard gear . So can someone pls clarify what s next after twisthard gear? In what order? I ve seen ppl say stormcry is last gear and other say vm...what s vm? Whats vm9? Im really confused and would like clarification on gear progression from twisthard to the very best! Also what gear upgrades and when/if it stops and a new set is needed. Thx alot!

A general guide to the materials and costs:
https://essentialmana.com/gear-revamp-guide/
VM stands for Visionmaker. That was the first end-game set that had 4 bottom lines instead of 3 on the weapon and chest, to my understanding. People have just started to add a number on after that, for informal use, instead of their actual name, for the future versions of that.
VM9 is Deathwrack gear. VM8 was Ambush.

https://essentialmana.com/gear/ambush-vm8/
People still use VM gear to indicate the change from 3 to 4 extra lines of effects on the gear, with VM denoting the presence of the extra line. (Which holds true for Frostmetal and Stormcry in the current progression.)
EDIT - Just for the sake of completeness. You progress through the gear tiers by first enchanting an item to its maximum and then upgrading it.
The maximum is listed at the bottom of the tooltip for the item. That also lists what the item upgrades to.
For the sake of record:
- Guardian can be enchanted up to +6, upon which it can be upgraded to Twistshard.
- Twistshard can be enchanted to +9, upon which it can be upgraded Frostmetal.
- Frostmetal can be enchanted to +9, upon which it can be upgraded to Stormcry.
- Stormcry can be enchanted to +9. There is currently no upgrade for it, though we will in the future get some as of yet unnamed new tier.
Upgrading will remove any etchings on the item, they have to be reapplied. Dyads bound to it will no longer work. The upgraded item is also enigmatic again, so you need to pick your effects for it all over again before you can use it. The second set of effects have to be rebought after an upgrade as well.
Accessories (Rings, Earrings, Belt, Neck, Circlet, Brooch) can only be upgraded, they do not have the enchantment step. (They also use Silver Talents, rather than Golden Talents.) Come Frostmetal (and the equivalent tier for the accessories) you will require a crafted item in place of the Golden (or Silver) Talent. Those can be bought at the Broker or made via either Weaponcrafting (the Golden Talent line) or Armorcrafting (Silver Talent upgrades). Artisan skill is required in the crafting skill to use the recipe. Stormcry tier items require Master level crafting items.
The required items are listed when you put an item into the enchanting window. If you want to see it otherwise, please consult a guide.
I can never remember the names of the accessory tiers, so I'll have to just direct you to the guide again. It should list them.
Sorry, but I can't help you any further with PvP, since I don't engage in it.
Also thank you MEN9KHFW9M for asking the right question and getting this thread started!
