Guardian Legion Not Counting Toward Daily Bonuses

It shows up in my Vanguard Daily list, but anytime I do a mission complete, I don't get a reward or it doesn't count toward my dailies. And now it's saying that I can't complete more than two, but I've never gotten rewarded for completing anything. I'm lost. Am I missing something?

Comments

  • But I haven't seen it count towards a Vanguard daily completion at all is my point. I read somewhere doing Echoes of Aranea are required, and I've done that twice to get each direction.

You have to do them enough to claim 1 box from them. Simply doing the quest won't get it, you have to be able to claim the crystal box.

Right, forgot to add this part. You have to reach 100,000(?) points to earn the box, and also complete the Vanguard quest.

Yes I believe it's 100,000. It's not too difficult to do if you do the DPS quests, but doing the one that looks like a Simon Grid takes a bit longer.
  • Right, I finally got one by completely doing the simon-says grid (I'm rather awful at the DPS part of this game). It finally said I completed all requirements even though I didn't get to 100,000. So I was wondering if it also matters if you're "ranked" high enough on that percentage board to the right. Because usually in the DPS ones I don't get high at all.
  • If you play Simon and have a memory you'll be able to get 100k points in a single 5-minute instance. In order to get the vanguard reward you have to actually hit the claim button for your guardian legion chest, it doesn't have anything to do with your ranking in the mission.

Just for the sake of clarity, let's define a few terms.

Guardian Mission: This is the entire thing. Five or Ten minutes maximum duration. 6 of them in total, 2 blue, 4 green. 3 active locations at any one point. Introduction by the NPCs, a few waves of mobs, a bit of moving around as directed. Basically just following the prompts on screen.

There is a progress bar and objectives (the progress bar is the second one, not the top one). Also has a ranking list for who did how much contribution in percentage. You may or may not finish the required progress to complete the mission. If you finish all of the objectives, the mission is over, you can now move on to another one.

The location will still count down until the maximum time elapses (and you can change channel to start it up again if there is still enough time left, though you first have to leave the mission area), upon which the world map switches to the next cycle. Failure just has any remaining mob(s) despawn. This failure to complete all objectives has, as of now, no meaning beyond some change in flavor text. (Though there is apparently some kind of debuff blocking you from getting points if you fail to much at the Tuwangi mission? Not sure, I never do that one.)

Contribution Points bar: This is the top most bar of the Guardian Mission window. Also shows up on the World Map if you activate the Guardian toggle. Has a claim button on both. This fills up as you do things in the Guardian Mission. It can fill up more than once per mission, it can fail to fill up even once per mission.

Certain classes get a bonus to their actions for how many points they are worth (in particular healers, thus why when they go DPS mode they'll rank so high even in lower tier gear.) DPS is the main way you earn points for there in 5 out of the 6 available missions. (Some might say the only way, because healing gives very little, and just staying alive is likewise of no real contribution.)

Progress in the contribution points bar carries over between missions.

You can claim 40 rewards per day and character from this contribution points bar. This limit resets along with the Vanguard Requests. Any rewards not claimed by that point are lost. (So if you're in the middle of a mission, and racking up the points, as it gets close to reset, take the time to click claim or you might have wasted that effort.)

Now, as stated, the Vanguard Request is about the contribution points bar. It will complete as you claim your first reward from that. And you do have to claim it, just filling the bar will not complete the vanguard.

That's what I was missing before. Thank you. I found that out today.
