Demonkron Factory Normal (Lancer)

Hi everyone, since yesterday I have been having fail after fail runs in Demonkron Factory Normal Mode, which I found interesting because I had previously cleared it 6 times, and I did die a few times (mostly from the mobs on the 2nd boss) and the burn on last boss, but none the less, it wasn't anything too bad and we cleared the run within 15 minutes or so. Now, I have done 4 runs in the past two days and each one has failed! I have noticed though that 2/4 runs that we had a mystic for heals instead of a priest, which I'm not sure how big a difference it is and if it should be affecting me as a tank. I get a lot of blame a long with the healers of course, and I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. I have +12 Dreadnaught Weapon+Chest, +9 boots/gloves. Xtals are aggro increase and crit chance increase xtals. Glyphs are standard aggro/pve glyphs. On the first boss, from what I know, as a lancer, I'm supposed to take the lancer out of the poison puddles so others can dps him, hold aggro, avoid poison puddles myself. Another holds sorc aggro. For 2nd boss, I find myself dying constantly any time there are the mini crabs that spawn. I can hold my own perfectly fine against boss, but then there are 5-10 ads on me with poison and I die to them a lot. Any tips for this? Last boss, I find the last boss the easiest and do not really have any issues with that one. The only question I have is, how come on the burn (not the lasers), but the burn, up until about he is 30% health, I can take the damage fine/heal etc. But when he is low life, I get one shot sometimes. Is this normal? Please and thanks for any help!

    1. +12 your boots and gloves, it's worth it.
    2. Second boss adds don't poison you, they hit you from weird angles thru your block and put slowing debuffs on you. Ask your DPS to kill them, or take a step or two backwards every so often so that your next shield counter hits them.
    3. "You will all burn" = burn ring traveling from tree to outside, "Burn" = burn ring traveling from outside thru tree. You should learn to dodge this.

I can't say for sure why you're getting oneshot sometimes - could be defensive rolls (enraged/front/highest aggro and changing elements of battle), priests not babysitting with Kaia's, boss having power buff on because nobody was dpsing from the front - bunch of reasons. Regardless of the reason, practice not getting hit by this at all or you will never survive hard mode, in which it is always a oneshot.

It is also possible that "Burn" counts as back damage instead of front damage, and you have a "Reduce damage taken from front" line on your chest.

Onslaught also reduces damage taken by 50%.

If you want to post screenshots of your gear/glyphs here, we can give you more specific tips if you think they might be a concern. :)

The poison that is killing you at second boss is from the carpets on the floor. At 90/70/50/30 percent he will stop, become invincible and spawn carpets 3 times, there will be a flashing line moving across each one- as the third line hits the wall is when the debuff is applied, so iframe accordingly if you aren't able to walk out in time. At 10% he will do the carpets 4 times instead. At one stack of poison you take 10,000 damage per tick, at 2 stacks you take 20,000 and so on. 2 stacks are survivable with a decent healer, 3 stacks of poison is pretty much guaranteed death.

Little crabs are real threats to lancer. They always damage you from your side where you cant block. They also block your way to get out of stuck and apply a slowing debuff which is deadly for avoiding carpets. Lancer has trouble to kill these annoying crabs without having knockup kits and large hit boxes.

I thought, people didn't distract the sorc and the lancer got killed.

Mystic doesn't matter. If you deal with only one lancer boss, you shouldn't die as tank too much. However, your gear is so bad for tanking DFNM. it would be much easier with +12 full Slaugther set.

I would just kick +9 dread lancer for pug. It's not hard to get full +12 dread set.

in NM, Burn phase starts at 30~35% of boss HP.

2nd boss is harder in normal mode than hard mode for lancer, because of craps. You have ask your party member to clear it. Or you can move around.

If there is sorc, gunner or archer in party, they can hit mobs and boss same time.
  • Use focused, wrathful crystals. And +12 your glove.

You get slaughter from DFNM, and only DFNM. If he doesn't do DFNM, how do you propose he gets this slaughter gear? Buying it off the broker for insane amounts just so players like you don't have to deal with a Dreadnaught tank?

Dreadnaught is fine for DFNM. He just needs to +12 the other two pieces.
  • Dreadnaught is fine for DFNM, you can still block all damage. The armor from slaughter is only needed if you intend to get hit a lot.

On first boss all moves by the sorc can be blocked, but you need to look at two enemies attacking you rather than one. It does get more difficult, but you can make it out without damage with perfect timing.

Backstep is your ally. Always backstep before moving away, to get some safe distance and not get hit by the boss as soon as you start moving away. If he charges at you, block him and then backstep again for that last distance from the pool. Don't stress just to get the safe area for the dps, they can wait a few seconds. Your life is always more important.

On second boss, try making a backstep when you get surrounded by minions to get them in front of you together with boss, rather than around you. Backstep can also iframe the toxic floor.

On third boss, there is a special move he uses on low health where he throws fire from himself outwards. When he calls out the "burn" thingie, move away from him, so you can more easily time backstep through the fire. (turn your camera to jump through the fire towards the boss). He never does the reverse directional fire in normal mode.

If you cannot see the fire or the toxic floor that could explain your confusion. Try tuning up effects level a bit (i have a vague memory too many effects disappear on lowest level) or check for other graphics issues. I know some people have those and it's a shame and sad. If that is the problem it's hard to deal with and you have my sympathy.

The thing for 1st boss, if people are not keeping the girl far away, I just take her hit in normal mode sometimes because she doesn't sleep (in hard mode she does though). When lancer is about to put puddle, I start going backwards and wait for the 2nd tick then i-frame and re position. In hard mode though the girl is annoying if she is not dealt with and managing resolve can start becoming a bit of a problem.

The little crabs at 2nd boss can definitely be an issue. I found the best way to deal wit them is make sure to block them. If any of them start coming from side, I back step and re position myself in a way where the crabs attack me straight rather than at an angle because they can hit through the sides. I try to stun them when possible and dps them as fast as I could when I can while still dealing with the boss. When I'm on my gunner, I try to help whoever is tanking and try to help kill the crabs but when I'm tanking no one helps me lol. I just try to be aggressive against the little crabs at the right moments. Most times I can kill them fast on lancer but other times I may not be able to depending on what is going on. And crabs don't put poison, they only slow you down, which is dangerous when dealing with the floor carpet. It's best not to get hit by it or else tickling damage 10k each. I never got a 2nd stack so I'm not sure how much that would do but may put the healer at stress to heal continuously.

If you're getting 1 shot at last boss at the end, it may depend on your armor rolls. The boss I think is enraged through out the fight if I remember correctly (his hp bar is always flashing red). If you don't have enraged reduce dmg on ur chest, then it sure would be difficult as you will take a lot more damage when bosses are enraged. +12 the rest of the gear also helps. I'm not sure if it's worth to re-roll your dreadnaught if you're looking to go to slaughter gear and save spellbinds for that. Slaughter will help a lot as long as you have the right rolls. As someone else mentioned, it may be good idea to post what your setup and rolls look like, then can go from there.

This is all from my experience in normal mode. I haven't done HM because I'm always alone and those instances shouldn't be tried through IMS unless one has VERY thick skin. And even NM can wipe easily because of newbies, their low tier gear and inexperience.

As for the first fight, if people know what they are doing, the party can ignore the sorc and pour all dps on lancer. The sorc's most annoying move is the aoe push. But if the lancer boss and his puddles are properly managed, the push will only do minor damage and not get anyone into a stray puddle.

One thing I noted about the little crabs in second boss. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen plenty of times that if a dps gets the attention of the little crabs and he starts killing them, the boss aggroes whoever is killing the little crabs, so I usually tell the party to group adds with boss and everyone aoe there, so all dps can hit both boss and little crabs at the same time. Little crabs die very fast this way and become no problem for the tank.

As for verno. There's a few things to keep in mind. The 'stay in front or he screams' mechanic. You must be pretty much at hug range. Sometimes you will see 1/3. Never seen 2/3 nor 3/3 myself. Either 1/3 or already screaming and powering up. He gets a shield phase, and if I remember right, either the shield reflects damage or he does something that spreads damage in that phase like a maniac. Many dps die here because they keep attacking, and attacking, just like lemmings, not even watching their health drop in large globs. Lasers, usually the first, do not spawn for everyone. Apparently the burn donut can be jumped. The most annoying part of this boss is the confuse adds. Having your controls inverted in this fight is a total pain. I have already 'tanked' this as ninja, archer and slayer, but never as any of my tank classes, because I go as dps but the tank dies and I seem to be the only one who knows what to do there. :/ The tank can use a solo IoD farm gear setup here to improve DPS because the boss won't turn around anyway.

Full DN +12 is recommended for NM. Slaughter is overkill and you'd be there only for the bark item. What is needed for this dungeon is that people know their class and learn mechanics. Most, if not all wipes I've been on are because of inexperience and low tier gear.

Never leave home into this without a Complete Crystalbind.

Many people have a lot of problems with this specific NM run. I believe the reason is the difficulty spike. I haven't done the other 3-star dungeons, but I've done the two star ones enough to say that they are a total joke compared with these. New players, who by far haven't had any chance to learn their class or any mechanics because both level up game and the first dungeons are just so stupid easy, get slapped by the reality of a 3 star dungeon, where they have to finally get a grasp for their class' abilities, learn teamwork, and see for the first time that two sword slashes won't kill an enemy just as it was before.

If only level up and starter dungeons were harder. Not as hard as DFNM, but harder than stuff like abscess NM, where I have yet to see anyone get killed. A good dungeon that starts testing people, but not everyone does in the level up game, is the current Golden Labyrinth. Seen plenty of people dying silly there because of mechanics and plain boss dps when I was recently leveling up some of my old characters. Saravash ascent was good back then when it had all it's wipe mechanics too. Thing is, current game is too easy to level up, then to abruptly spike at end game, instead of having progressive difficulty.

    This is solely my opinion.
  • Please, stop spreading this nonsense that Dreadnaught is "so bad" for DFNM.

Slaughter makes it easier, sure, but this lancer is having problem with a few specific mechanics that if they get ignored/facetanked, not even Slaughter will make it "easier". As suggested, getting the Dread gloves and boots +12 will help a lot, and it is not hard to enchant them.

For the mini crabs, I suggest that if you see them coming to you, move backward a little bit so that when you hit or counter the boss, you will have the mini crabs in front of you as well.

The carpets on crab boss have "ripples", count 3 times and iframe if you can not walk out of it safely.

Also, what rolls do you have on weapon and chest? Etchings will halp too, you can use the temporary ones, they're only a few golds on the broker.

what the hell is wrong with you. I said +12 dread set is not hard to get it at the bottom. And. I didn't say +12 slaugter is must for DFNM.

Thanks for all the tips guys! I will be sure to backstep/block the crab ads and ask my party to dps both boss and the ads. For the dodging of the burn phase on the last boss, I will keep practicing until I can dodge it correctly. I had been told that there was actually NO way to block this phase at all while in dungeon, so I never even tried to. They had said I could dodge the lasers, but not the burn! Thanks again! I will also +12 the boots/gloves!
