Why when some dies in SSHM agro switch?BUG?

This irritates me a lot because when someone dies in my group(i mean DPS) agro passes to other person ....BUG?

not a bug, that's the new aggro system. if someone dies, especially the person with primary aggro, aggro randomly jumps around and really screws everyone else over. so, just don't die. :P

It's the way aggro has always worked in this game, it's by far not the best but I don't think there's any plan to change it.

What happens is that when someone in the party dies the total aggro generated among all players is reset to 0%, thus the next person to hit it (or the next heal that lands if it's before anyone hits the target) will take aggro.

This has always been a thing. It's not exclusive to SSHM.

That's how the aggro system has 'always' been, in every dungeon. At least sense I started playing just before the WH patch 3 years ago.

Except now, if some one dies and some on touches the boss or heals before you can re-secure the aggro, it only takes a few seconds to take it back, or just the cheese shout if you're a brawler.

The 100% aggro switch on a party members death doesn't bother me too much unless some one is acting out the one hit song Chumba Wumba ever made. Then it can get pretty annoying, and I start really hoping the healer leaves them on the ground.

Back in the day, if some one held the 100% mark (which is what the first one to touch the boss or use a skill that generate AOE aggro gets after a party death) you had to bust your [filtered] if you had any hopes of grabbing it back in less than 5 seconds, more if some scarredy cat want's to run arena wide circles with the boss. If the person who got the aggro after death kept hitting big crits before you get it back or slightly after, it took AGES and every mana pot under the sun to get it back.

This is one of the things that has me convinced aggro works on a percentage basis.

The only time I dislike this design is on a select few bosses that aggro has a habit of glitching on when it's swapped - i.e. having aggro for 40-60 seconds (or even longer) as a healer even when your tank's back up and your dps are going ham on the boss trying to get him off of you. But I don't believe any current bosses do that. TS was the last one (and most glitchy) I noticed it in.

Just expect that aggro will swap around if your DPS are being floormats. It says nothing about you, it's just the design of how aggro works. Assuming aggro doesn't bug onto the healer, you should get it back pretty much immediately as a lancer or brawler.

Its a mechanic that has existed since Tera was released.

Yeah it totally sucks especially when I'm tanking last boss sshm and trying to keep him in the middle. It happens everywhere though. I don't think it was ever a glitch. This is how it's always been. Most times I can get aggro back fast so it hasn't been a huge red flag for me but it can be annoying to deal with at times when things aren't going well.

The first boss of MCHM used to get stuck on people after that [filtered] happened. Made the encounter interesting.

It's been like that since brawler patch. Ktera players had made some complaint when it started after Brawler patch. They still believe that it's a bug.
  • been like that far before brawler.

The first time it really became noticeable was SCHM..Not every dungeon has the 100% aggro reset..Like SSHM isn't a 100% reset it's more around 50%

I actually welcome it as an added mechanic makes my job more interesting as a tank
