Reaper DPS gone wrong??

So started playing the game with a friend who wanted me to join. I rolled Ninja but didnt like it much so swapped to Reaper and in general i don't mind the combat. That said, my DPS is absolutely terrible. I've got mostly basic 65 gear, some enchanted/upgraded. Followed several guides for glyphs/gear and learned the rotation. While farming, my friend who plays Valkyrie is able to nuke down a basilisk in maybe 20 seconds or less with about the same level of enchantments. It takes me around 1:30 80% of the time to kill one following the usual guide rotation. We're both on around 230 ping so i wouldn't think it would be a difference in latency. My sundering crit never goes above 2m and is often on the lower side around 500k. Is there something significantly wrong i'm doing with the rotation that's not mentioned in the guides past 'press this skill'? Is reaper really just that bad? Is it the ping? I'm just pretty lost on what to do here.

    First of all, blame yourself not the class.

    I do see so many things wrong with what you said that will make you bad as a DPS class.

    Even if you say you don't always play with 3 crystals, you should NEVER always play with minimum crystals, period. Get yourself a Bitter, Savage, Focused, and either Carving/Forceful niveot. Just get a complete crystalbind that are super cheap and you don't need to worry about breaking crystals ever again.

    Also your accessory crystal is questionable. You just answered your question on why you don't crit, it's because you AREN'T using keen vyrsks that increases your crit factor. Go and get those.

    230ms ping is bad on you anyways. You won't perform well than other top dogs out there so you are already restricted unless you know the ways of 3rd party tools to avoid ping tax.

    and Valkyrie is FOTM so their crit chance is broken compared to older classes that doesn't have 100% crit chance skills that easily. Valkyrie goes for power build while classes like Reaper needs to raise their crit.

    Also, I'm concerned about your rolls tho. I know you said you read guides but I always get surprised that they pick the worst possible combinations regardless of them admitting they read a guide. Weapon rolls especially are vital to your damage contribution.

    And lastly, this game is pure skilled base. You have to put forth your knowledge of your class and the enemy. Having good gear and numbers don't mean anything if you aren't getting behind bosses or using your skills properly. And I hope you aren't using spacebar chains either because that leads to bad habits and your numbers will never improve at all.

    ^ so yes that's a lot of faults I'm bringing up, but that's usually what's wrong with new players that doesn't get the appropriate numbers that they want. You already have a disadvantage playing a class that needs crit to build up and your high ping. But once you progress with Reaper to build up your crit factor, then you'll start seeing some improvements on critting. DPS classes like Valkyrie and Warrior have 100% crit on their heavy hitting skill so their build is much different compared to most classes.

    Alright thank you for your input. I do realize that it perhaps might be myself and not the class but i had no idea where i was going wrong when 20% of the time a BAM would die very quickly and the other 80 takes a minute and a half assuming same rotation and no extra grim procs.
    No, i don't use space bar for obvious reasons.
    I don't have the optimal crystals that the guides called for since i really have no idea where i should be getting them. I saw some in the reputation shop but i don't have nearly enough to purchase them yet.

    As for crystals, you can get what you need from the vanguard crystal merchants in highwatch. The shop takes vanguard credits so all you need to do are vanguard missions and you'll have the currency to buy them.

    thanks for the tip on ping, Misty. We tried it but doesn't really seem to have done anything unfortunately.

    and yeah i found the crystals in the vanguard shop but at the time i only had maybe 400 credits, not nearly enough for what i needed. Wasn't sure if there was any other way to get them.

    You can get crystals from the vanguard merchant.

    If you're struggling with money, you can buy Cruxes from any regular Crystal Merchant in most towns for very cheap. Only use these until you can replace them with Niveots.

    Also if you aren't elite you should run the 12-hour crystalbinds. They aren't that expensive, and last for 12 hours of play, not 12 real-time hours. As long as you have one of those up your crystals won't break anymore. This is particularly important if you're still grinding up vanguard points.
