Reason to go priest?
Seems like Mystic is highly favored even in this early version of the game when I had heard priest was king. Mystic has has the auras and multiple ways to fill peoples blue bars. Its always seems like dungeons go faster with a mystic.
But... Priest has the cooler weapon lol. That full size staff is much cooler. I was wondering if priest had some other redeeming qualities? Are the end game dungeons much harder and mystics maybe struggle to keep up with the damage?
Any reason at all to pick priest over mystic?

Mystics are the mages who are more "supportive" and dps-oriented with a side value of healing (target, ball pit healing, and a thrall to heal). But Mystics are also better off in solo content than Priests because, well, they do more damage than Priests, especially using ToP and ToV. Whereas Priests are great for full support-party play with more focus on longevity and survivability of the team over increasing their damage output.
A Priest will have an easier time healing, especially if everyone in the group needs a quick-up that a Mystic won't be as equipped to handle, as well as them having damage reductions and certain buffs that don't require full maintenance of their distance from their group or a channeling effect of their mana to watch for either.
However, if you plan to do raids, you'll definitely need both Priests and Mystics to handle the fight because you'll need both halves of utility they offer in order to complete it (both the DPS boosting and the damage reductions they'll both offer the full group).
Mystic needs more teamwork then priest since they dont have as much easy aoe
Basically, Priest for smooth run, Mystic for fast run
Pretty much this.
It's also a bit of an epeen thing for some people. It's been drilled in so hard that priest is the easier/better healer that more people are playing mystic to prove their skill.
The only question you need to answer for yourself is, whether you like it.
Personally I love to play undervalued classes, if there are any. In Everquest 2 brawlers were the end of the foodchain. I never cared and had a great char and could do things noone else could.
Is that how it goes? I played mystic (and plan to remake tomorrow) because I enjoy classes that can summon no matter the role. Being a healer is just a bonus I guess but I don't get why that would be a reason to pick a more technical healer "just to prove a point".

Is that whats going on with warrior too? Explains a lot lol
Feel like you gotta compensate for something by needing the "bigger weapon"? ewe
