Most likely we are not gonna get it due to copyrights.

Shouldn't be an issue since we got Hello Kitty stuff.
  • I wouldn't use Hello Kitty as an example for hope since Hello Kitty already is licensed and sells things in the EU and NA. The dance/song is a copyright specifically to a Korean Pop Girl Group's company. It would be an expensive endeavor to get that licensed here when they aren't in the western market at all.

This is the same as with the Cat headphones. K-pop is not really popular in the western market. Why not use it for free advertising and just give it NATera?

This is something I'll never understand from a strategic point of view, why "making fast money through license" is more important than "opening a new market".

It's really all about the rightsholders. In some cases, the company that has the rights to do the deal in Korea may not even have the rights to do international deals due to the way licensing works, or the contract may put in untenable licensing expectations. The whole thing is backwards and antiquated, and hopefully will keep being modernized as people realize the Internet has broken all the walls.
  • the deal with that emote was region exclusive. the deal with hello kitty was worldwide. that's pretty much it, sadly. i tried!

Well if KTera wont let NATera have it then that's it I guess.

But it is still totally silly.

You can't copyright or trademark a dance. It isn't like everyone needs to give Michael Jackson's family royalties every time someone moonwalks. You *can* copyright motion capture data of someone dancing, but you would think that Bluehole (or whoever) would own that. Copyright law is idiotic.
  • Probably has to do more with the Kpop song that plays during the dance than anything else.

oh there's music attached to it. Well that makes sense then. Still can't see why we can't get it with the music stripped off, don't really care that much tho.
