It's not too early to say. Console is released and it's in the VM8 patch, which is around a year behind PC. Even if they're on an "accelerated" patch cycle, it'll be similar to how NA used to be a consistent 6 months behind KR. They'll eventually "catch up" but even now PC is still 2-3 months behind KR.
That easily fixed my problem of starting over on console or going back to PC. While on console, I don't think its as bad as people are making it out to be, there are some serious slow-down and framerate issues. On PC its just better.... no big surprise.
I did like the main menu/inventory interface they had on console (and they also didn't have the radar in the upper corner), but aside from that it's a no-brainer.
Side note: On console, I started with zerker, and on PC, Valk, and it just seems like the newer classes from Reaper on, just flow so much better than the original ones.
If you're talking about the little radar that shows you mobs/gatherables, you can hide it by pressing this button.
As for new vs old classes, between the older classes and the release of newer classes (aka Reaper onwards) there's been a few years of development time. There was also a decent shift the direction they wanted to take combat, so most newer classes have far less animation locks and way more chain skills than older classes.
However with the current state of endgame the difference is far less noticeable due to typically having a lot of attack speed in endgame content for most classes, especially during burst phases where most classes have large attack speed buffs from items, their own buffs and Adrenaline Rush from Lancer. So I wouldn't be too hesitant to try out some of the older classes, especially with the upcoming godsfall patch.
Also, i think that the game is friendly with the new players because the weapon/armor/jewelry and even etchings/glyphs are far easier to acquire now while at the same time we have guardian legion dailies + other events .. And a new player can definitely get some pretty decent stuff even after two weeks of playing ..
