Bring Gamepad UI from consoles to PC

Dears,

For those who take the choice of playing with a gamepad on PC would be awesome to get the console UI. Or at least, give the chance to choose which UI to use.

If not possible, could at least allow gamepad players to link shortcuts on extended bars? It can only be hotkeyed by keyboard+mouse users. It would allow me to manually configure PC gamepad controlls as the ones from console.

Thanks for reading!

I play with controller. It would not be awesome to bring over console ui.
  • Please don't.

If it is optional why not? Can you develop?

In consoles I can use 3 bars in a controller. In PC I can only use two, except if I missed something you could share with me.

I think browsing menus is also much faster but this is not mandatory for me. Only reason I ask for this is because of the third extra bar hotkeyed in gamepad.

With the controller UI on PC, you can't really effectively use them. On console, you can set three full bars worth of controller-accessible hotbars (plus radial UI for additional options). So I agree with the OP that, for most people, it'd be a better controller experience on PC. (Keeping the current option for people who want it, of course.)

Yeah I know, Controller has 3 bars and 4 though the Radial UI somewhat acts as a small 4th bar so eh.

Just whichever style you like i guess

I'm using a Steam controller with a broken left bumper. So I had to map that to the left back grip.. I also use the extended main shortcut bar, since the default controller setup actually has inputs for pretty much all of those shortcuts. It's very awkward to use. You get finger crunching commands like LB+RB+D-Pad.Left, but they are there...

Not sure how you can play with the Steam controler.

I didn't got used to it on almost any game where you need fast reactions (like fighting games) and Tera was no exception.

Casually. Very casually. If I was a serious PC gamer, I would have gone the MKB masterrace way. Anyway. I used an xbox 360 controller when I started tera, but like any dual analog contraption out there, turning around the camera was severely limited. So when I heard about the Steam controller's trackpads, I decided to dive in and test it. Sure, that controlers is very awkward as first. Almost like handling an old xBox Duke, but once used to it, the trackpads, while they don't offer mouse precision, are a godsend against an analog stick for moving your camera around. Helps that they have a ton of settings you can tweak to make them run your way. Sure, missing a physical d-pad is bad for fighting games, so getting an arcade stick or a fighting game pad would be a better alternative, but for relaxed casual couch gaming, the Steam Pad is a beast.

I know how awkward the transition from any controller to a Steam controller is. I also know that because of this, it's hard (though a bit faster) to re-adapt to the old stuff, in my case an xbox 360 pad. This is the main problem people are having with the Steam pad. You either go full throttle with it and forget everything else, or don't use it at all.

You already have access to all the trays even with a controller, just not by default. You need to reconfigure your controls so that you can pull up the next or previous tray.

Not very intuitive, sure. Convenient, quite (especially for you priests out there who also wanna try doing damage).

Thanks mate! But I could only set two bars and the directional pad. When I try to configure the extended bars with controller it just doesn't allow it.

I also think many people here didn't try the fantastic settings they developed for controller in consoles.

I was not trying to bring a PC vs Consoles debate, I am a PC player mainly but I think is quite unfair we cannot get the controller advantages from consoles version of the game.

If someone can just find a way to hotkey controller buttons in extended bars, that would be good enough for me. But i think this is not possible.

    Thanks!

And about pulling up next or previous tray, I would pay you a beer if you share with me how to make it with more than 2 bars. In consoles I can do it with 3. This is all I want.

    Thanks!!
