p.s I don't even see why anyone would logically pick a mystic to play as a dps, they effectively have 3 skills they can reliably use to deal damage and that's it, and they're not even "fun" to pull off either, I get that they have pets but honestly the pet dps is terrible anyway.
I added the bold part for emphasis. Do you not see the flaw in your argument? The reason you can't solo the 61-65 dungeons is the same reason why you can solo everything before it: The 61-65 content was added post original game and has inflated gearing, leveling, and everything across the board. That's why it's so easy to outlevel dungeons just goofing off doing side quests, or why you might outpace your main story missions. It's a common refrain whenever an MMO adds a major expansion and retools the base game to adjust.
By 65, the Mystic is back in its original role. Sure, you can run around the open world and do some decent DPS for daily solo kills, even round up entire groups and burst them down with pets and AOE skills. But in group play the Mystic's role is to heal, buff and cleanse the party, and debuff and curse the enemy. DPS is incidental to these roles. By way of example: the mana cost on Boomerang Pulse makes it a very poor DPS ability, but a great heal for your melee teammates while doing a small bit of damage to the boss along the way. If you're grouped with a priest, direct healing takes a back seat but you're still dealing with cleanses, debuffs, curses and orbs.
Generally speaking, if I can fit it in the rotation with mana costs, I'll usually keep Thrall of Vengeance down all the time for extra damage on the boss. Better to keep a high dps character up with heals and cleanses than try to fill their shoes with a third of their DPS output.
