Is Reaper Worth It?

Made it to forty and was going to roll a Reaper but first just needed to do some homework is the Reaper good in PvE and PvP? I have watched some pc videos and it looks like Reaper has a hard time but console may be different but there are few Reaper videos for ps4 at the moment.

Right now, it's fairly good for PVE. I don't PVP so someone else has to comment on that aspect.

However, it will get nerfed once they start playing catch-up with the PC version..

This was from september on pc. Looks like reaper was pretty good in pvp back then.

  • Reaper in PvP is solid, it's PvE is also decent, like all classes, player skill and knowledge can improve or degrade that statement. I however find reapers to be a very linear playstyle with little diversity, you have a core rotation that really cant be altered nor matched by any other and its more or less the only reason the class isnt just bad alltogether, at least in PvE, PvP it really depends on you and the enemy, and the scenario.
  • I'm having fun with it as an alt. haven't tried pvp. I think rolling a reaper is worth it just to farm mats alone - way better than starting from 1. my only criticism is that it feels a lot slower than how it looks. feels a little janky but maybe that's just me.

The issues i have with Reaper is that after the tutorial zone the reaper has is it dumps you out at lvl 58 with almost all of your abilities. You are suddenly expected to use them all accordingly without much more than 30 minutes crash course on the class. They have very little spells and are almost FORCED to follow very specific spell patterns otherwise you are slower than [filtered] running uphill in the snow as well as the spells themselves a lot of the time will be very unresponsive unless you chain them exactly how the game wants you too.

Points being; you have almost no time to learn the class before getting thrown VERY close to end game, your spells are very linear and you have almost no flexibility on how you use these spells otherwise they activate extremely slowly. You only have a few spells so you find yourself just mashing the same button over and over again while the game basically plays for you because they almost all chain in a line.

PvP is alot better because you do have to maneuver alot more than in PvE but it is about the same thing still so its extremely easy to figure out what abilities are coming next and to either avoid or counter them. The trick to PvP as reaper is to make them THINK they know whats coming next but you can easily switch up the combos slightly to [filtered] with them.

The reaper can be a very destructive class if you can take the time to learn everything and gain the experience needed to figure out how to shake things up on your end. Some of the best PvPers i played with on PC were a reaper main so they can be terrors for sure. PvE they can dish out very fast and very devastating combos if positioned correctly.

Playing a reaper can be very rewarding if you can take the time to learn how to use them as with any class really. But if you let the game play for you like it try to on reaper class you will come out very sub-par and lacking in real experience. The same can said for most classes but the way the system trys to guide your abilities on reaper without your say so makes it more obvious.

after optimizing glyphs and gear, it's the exact opposite. cooldowns are perfect for rotation and playing it is super super fun.
