Is there any chance of the basic innerwear ever getting an actual mesh instead of being painted on?

http://i.imgur.com/FdvylNh.jpg (I don't know who posted this pic, but thanks to them for doing so)

Unlike the swimsuits and the other innerwear, and I think everything else in the game, it does not appear to have ANY 3d modeling. Absolutely none. It's just painted onto the body (and not especially well painted either, IMO).

It makes me sad, because I don't like either of the other innerwear styles. u.u

This could have looked properly 3D-ish if it's normal map were deeper, since it's a tight outfit. Though even normal maps have their limits here.

I am not sure that is something that they will be working on. It could quite possibly be that the demand of such a task is to much for the content creator. It is quite possible that they maybe working on something like this already. Although it is not something that can be resolved even in a weeks time. 3d meshes depending on complexity can take anywhere from 1-9months. 3d meshing for moving animated characters accessories is especially not an easy task. For with each node the placement has to be just right along with the texture of that part of the mesh. Also it is a chance that it was something of not high priority considering that the character is usually covered with armor anyway. Now should they do a 3d mesh they will also have to adjust the properties of armors so they do not clash with they way it looks. It could turn out to be a huge mess. They already are still trying to fix many other meshes as it is. I can be sure atleast your idea or wish is on a list for future editing.

I know from experience as a Texture designer how difficult just the deriving process alone can be, especially if you are deriving a mesh. One wrong measurement and it's all jacked up. The inners are presently a skin composite, they are not a paint on. Skin composite meaning that particular area of the body went through extensive texturing just for it to look the way it does, various layers involved in order for it to look like it does. Even as an accessory component it can be a bit difficult.

Even with the request seemingly small to us as users....believe me it is not a small request. I'm sure they wish they could do it all in one day.

For the work they have done for out environment alone was a mounting task of which I am proud of their work.

It would indeed be nice. I would infact go so far to say that, should they focus on such task more. This game would not longer be F2P. In fact we might end up going down a road in which users become developers of content. Then we would end up being tooo much like Second life.

Your request is not a bad one. Trust me it is a nice and pleasant one infact. I would like to see that. It's just not an easy task to accomplish in a users reasonable expectation of time.

I've actually done some meshing myself. I'm also familiar with making textures etc. So I know it is tough. But with some of the specifics you mentioned, this particular one would have no additional moving parts, which should eliminate a lot of the work.

BUT, the other styles of innerwear have much nicer quality, so it's frustrating to see the one I like look so haphazardly thrown together. It has no mesh of its own, the texture is obviously mirrored, and the edges of the texture to skin are rough and blocky. ._. That is what upsets me. How the others clearly had far more work put into them, and this one did not. The problem is definitely NOT that they don't put work into innerwear because it is seldom seen.

It's probably because this the one you earn in game, so it's the "basic" version. The fancier ones are sold on the cash shop. So they probably don't really have any incentive to go back and make the basic in-game one look more attractive, because they'd rather people buy the fancier looking ones. If they did spend more time on it, it'd probably be for a new cash shop model.

From what I understand of the Tera models, this one is in fact, a naked model with the underwear texture and a normal map. As for why they are like this. Already answered by counter. Making these too nice would divert cash shop sales. Or at least someone up there thought it would.

Now, as someone who has derped with blender for awhile, and even done a mod or two for other games, I've experienced some of the ins and outs of working with meshes, textures and normal maps. And even though a simple normal map wouldn't make everything much better, a deeper one around the edges and cloth ends would AT LEAST alleviate some of the much plain look this one has. And would save whoever works on it from all the work that would be involved in creating a whole mesh to cover the body + removing the body inside to avoid all clipping.

I've considered buying innerwear off the cash shop, but they don't sell the style I like. >___>

And lots of free stuff in the game, like ALL the armor, has actual meshes. So I'm not sure the logic applies there. I mean, this innerwear would still be really plain, so people who want fancier styles would still buy fancier styles. I'm not asking for free cute innerwear. I just wish it had the same effort put into it as the armor, and pretty literally everything else in the game. Q.Q

Mostly I mean there's no real incentive for BHS to go back and change this now given the way it is. (And, if they do change it, it's not unlikely that some people will come forward saying they liked the way it looked before, even if the new way is more technically proficient.)

Anyway, most likely at some point in the future, they'll come up with another new style, so hopefully you'll like that one...

Geez, now I'm not sure if I want to bother buying some blue or gold off the broker. ._. I wonder if we can summon a GM to answer if any new ones are planned at least.

    This is thoroughly frustrating.
